NEW VERSION....(10 December 2009) S2U2 v2.20

A couple cool additions here, in-call lock has been highly requested, and (my favorite) the ability to adjust volume when locked!!!

What is S2U2?
S2U2 (Slide2Unlock2) is a simple lock/unlock application which has the iPhone style slide unlocking. It can be used as a screensaver while you don't use your device. It has a CallerID function (but it may not work on some devices, so try it before use it daily); S2P control plugin; and volume control. S2U2 shows many system information even without unlocking and highly customizable.

Prerequisition:
- WM5 Phone or WM6/6.1/6.5 Professional devices
- free RAM: at least 1M for QVGA/WQVGA; 4M for VGA/WVGA
- free storage space: at least 2M for QVGA/WQVGA; 4M for VGA/WVGA

Changes of v2.20
- removed the option "lock the device after any phone call when Bluetooth is on".
- added option "InCall Lock" (S2U2 Settings -> General)
either don't lock the device during a phone call; always lock; or only when Bluetooth is on.
if CallerID is enabled, connected time of the call will be shown on the lock screen.
- added option to release the Volume Control key lock, i.e. adjust the volume even it's locked. (S2U2 Settings -> Phone)
- fixed an occasional issue that Dotfred's TaskMgr would hang when running S2U2 since v2.x.
- fixed the small volume bar of the VGA/WVGA S2P control plugin.
- fine tuned the CallerID and S2U2 Settings for HTC Pro2 & HD2.
but it's not recommended to use the CallerID together with the WM built-in lock.
- a few minor bugs fixed.

Reset Unread Count
If your device has suspicious unknown count of any unread email/vmail/sms/mms, use this file (ResetUnreadCount.cab) to reset them.

Lock/Unlock Sound Sample

Volume Control shortcut
If you need to manually map a key to invoke the new Volume Control, extract the S2U2-VC.LNK from this file (s2u2-vc.zip) & transfer it to your device's \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\S2U2 (for Non-English device, it varies), then use any key mapping software (some devices have it come along) to map this S2U2-VC to your preferred key.

But it assumes S2U2 is installed at \Program Files\S2U2. You may read HERE for how to create a LNK file.

Way to keep your eyes peeled. Good find. :headbang: I was wondering when they'd do something along these lines.

deadwrong03...I plan on installing ASAP (just found out about it and I am at work), I will let you know how my battery usage is on it, but I haven't had any power usage issues with any of the recent versions, so I don't know if my report will help too much.

Re: NEW VERSION...3 November 2009 S2U2 v2.10 - battery

The readme for the new version says:
- added to show Caller/Sender pics on the missed call/message pop-up.
- added to show account name on the email pop-up.

I'm sure I'm missing it, but I can't find where to enable these options in the S2U2 settings. Could someone please point me to them?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure if you have the message preview enabled (in settings under Preview and enable the appropriate preview notifications) that the pictures/accout will show as the message is shown on the screen (did that make sense?).

Thanks. I had thought it was necessary to turn those options on.

Hope it works now!! A_C just posted a 2.11 beta patch for the S2A not working, and the GIF wallpaper error. So far all seems to work well!!!!

I do hope that this version is way better on the battery, especially for my Sprint Touch Pro2

is there any way someone can test this and let everyone know if it fixes the severe battery drainage issue on the touch pro 2

Re: NEW VERSION...3 November 2009 S2U2 v2.10 - battery

I can confirm that using S2U2 on the Sprint Touch Pro2 does eat up more battery. I compared several 10 minutes runs w/ the screen off via power button for the S2U2 versus Pocket Shield, and I used acbPowerMeter to keep track the battery drain.

On average, with the screen off, S2U2 uses between 120-150mA, while PocketShield uses 70-86mA.

For S2U2, this is without changing wallpapers and without weather, so that S2U2 is only looking out for text, mms, and email notifications.

After running it for a day I can say that there is still a battery drain, but not as bad as v2.04. With 2.04 I was losing about 5% per hour. I've had some inconsistent results with 2.10 though. The first four hours I used it I had 0 battery drain. After that it varied. But it seems like it's only draining a little over 2% an hour now. About 7% every 3 hours.

Same here, :(

I really like S2U2 much more than pocketshield but for the battery drain it's a no go.

Re: NEW VERSION...(9 November 2009) S2U2 v2.12 - battery

I wish I had a definitive answer, but I am on the Omnia, and don't have a battery issue. I know Saurman (sp) in here has reported over @ XDA about good battery life on his Touch Pro 2, but that is about all I have heard/seen so far (and that was with version 2.10).

I tried 2.12 yesterday, it was making my phone run hot and killing my battery big time. Today I went back to 2.10 and its working fine on the Sprint TP2.

I've had no such problem with my TP2. Battery life seems a little better than v2.10.

Awesome! Should I just download the 2.11 beta, or the 2.11? What do you guys think? I have the Omnia

Edit: I must be going crazy, I missed where it says 2.12 is out. Nevermind!

Re: NEW VERSION...(9 November 2009) S2U2 v2.12 - battery

I have a tiny issue that is bugging the hell out of me lol. I set a wallpaper as portrait just to try it, but now I installed a theme to try that, and theme shows while it's in landscape, but in portrait the stupid wallpaper I set is still there and it wont let you unselect it and have nothing as the wallpaper in the settings. Does anyone know a workaround to this? It's such a weird problem, I cant imagine Im the only one who's had it

popdog54 11-10-2009 10:52 PM

Re: NEW VERSION...(9 November 2009) S2U2 v2.12 - battery

Did you try uninstalling the theme? If that doesn't work then just unistall and reinstall S2U2. I never install my S2U2 themes with a .cab, I just swap the files out.

Solange82200 11-11-2009 01:04 AM

Re: NEW VERSION...(9 November 2009) S2U2 v2.12 - battery

Thanks, its really weird because the cab ended up changing the fonts and everything, and even when I just changed the wallpaper to whatever I decided on, those fonts would stay. I ended up just removing S2U2, deleting all files, and then reinstalling.

It sucks since these themes are all cabs and not installed through the S2u2 settings, when you go to Theme in the settings it doesnt even recognize that a theme is loaded. Oh well, I guess I will have to be careful from now on installing themes like that

Vote for S2U2 in the "Best Phone Freeware" category at FreewarePocketPC.net for your chance to win a brand spanking new HTC HD2.

S2U2 is running away with it so far!!.

(S2P isn't doing too bad in the Multimedia category either, lets change that!!!!
(don't we all owe A_C at least a free vote to promote the fantastic work he does???)

Re: NEW VERSION...(9 November 2009) S2U2 v2.12 - battery

Will do, that's the least we can do! He is one awesome guy. I dont know how he did it, but he managed to make it so that when I get incoming calls, the slide to answer pops up seamlessly, no more of the regular crappy little white box popping up first and making my phone look ghetto! Even when the phone isn't locked, it still pops up seamlessly. Even pocketshield doesnt work that well

any idea whether this version has the recurring problem of draining the H#4l out of the battery in touch pro 2's??? i love this program but the battery drainage has been rediculous in the last few versions...idk y it hasnt been addressed thus far...any input???

I have seen some people with no issues, and a couple that had the same battery drain you did, but so far I haven't seen any input on this new version. I know A_C does read every post in the support forum and tries to address issues mentioned to him. I'll relay over here if I hear anything.
