WkTask
Saw this over on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=330855&page=2
English version: http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html Here is the original japanese page: http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask.html -> Screenshots Its obviously a japanese program, but someone over there has taken the time to translate the essential parts to english. Its really small and fast, and so far I havent had any problems. The settings dialog is mostly in english, except for the tab names themself. The 5th tab is where you can add program exclusions either by app or window title (make sure to add phone and activesync). I figure if more people know about it, there is a better chance the guy doing the translating could find some help. so far it is my favorite task manager because unlike HTC 1.5, it makes the start bar act like the task bar on a windows desktop. From within any program, you can just click on the icon in the smart bar (kind of like magic button). I would like the HTC one just as well if I could figure out a way to access its task switcher without having to be on the today screen. edit: Download the cab from the link in the third post. Someone suggested we not post the cab here so that the author gets credit for the download. |
Nice app, thanks

WkTASK Best Taskmanager so far
Its Japanese lite application translated in engilsh by XDA developers uses only 60kb amazing highly recommended.
Finally I go to close Icontact and commanager easily :) http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/imag...task005_en.png for more info visit http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html Download |
this app looks cool... but it seems like you would need a good amount of room up top to show more than like 2-3 tasks... now if this app did it by showing the app icon up there then id be all for it... i think wisebar advanced does that... that app annoys me tho, and eats ram like zombies eat brain...

the title bar shortcuts actually get smaller when more apps are open, they don't continue to show the full title. the app launcher it has looks like a really cool feature too. I didn't notice it before in the 70% translated version, but now in the full english version it looks really useful.

official link to CAB
the author made an english version which is currently 1.0.0.1 and works amazingly well. i was just trying to figure out which version of x-button was best on my mogul and this has solved all my woes.
please don't post the cab here so that the author gets the credit he deserves for writing such an elegant and useful piece of software! edit: see post #3 for the link |
Bing that link was already posted in post #3

I like the network connect/disconnect in the drop down.
|
I am always pretty reluctant to replace something that already works. That said, I tried this in place of X-button 2. My free memory jumped from around 15MB to a pretty consistent 23MB. Great program and good job on the find.

Nice Find ! Loving it -
|
version 1.0.0.3 was just released. go get it...
|
I have one quick gripe. Is anybody noticing that the phone app stays active after you use it? The only way I can get it to close is to terminate it.

That's why this (and other properly designed task managers) give you the option to hide apps from the task list and exclude them from being closed with the X button. If you tap and hold on Phone and look in the menu you will see those two commands... check both of them and then close phone and bring it back up--it will no longer appear in the task list. |
ive only used this for a few minutes but i love this program
|
Nice find. Off to download!!!

@luv2chill
Thanks man. I did set it up to hide from view right after posting that. Thanks for confirming what I thought. |
update came out today. Its 50% better. It seems every thing has better converted to english :)
|
Sweet little app...good bye X-Button.
|
I believe this app killed my slide 2 unlock program. Not completely just doesn't work like it used to. Just a warning.

Nice find. Looks good so far. Looks like i'll be say goodbye to x button.

It doesn't come on unless I prompt it (slide2unlock). It used to come on whenever I turned off my device and turned it back on. Now, I turn it on and it is directly on my today screen. Maybe it's just mine. I will remove WKtask and see what happens.
|
There is a registry setting for S2U2 that you need to change in order for it to invoke itself once the device powers down...

Okay, so I removed WKtask from my Treo. And lo and behold, it froze. I ended up having to hard reset. No biggie tho. I just thought I would post this as a warning. Like I said previously, maybe its just my Treo. Good little program but I think I'll pass.
