Audio Recording

This is just a "give back" post, to let you guys know my findings;

I have been looking for a way to use my TP2 to record business meetings, and phone calls - as I have really good memory, but it just doesn't last! LOL. Which means I forget what was said.

I considered a 3rd party hardware product such as one from Sony, or Olympus or Yamaha. They range in price from around $70 to $400 and can record in stereo, BUT you need to carry another gizmo, they can't record phone calls (unless on speaker), are clumsy to use with phone, and expensive. Plus they are hardly "stealth" :)

The TP2's in-built recorder just sucks. It can't work with the screen off and can't record phone calls, can't select recording codec, like MP3, etc.

*** NOT RECOMMENDED ***

I looked at programs from VITO, and in fact purchased the license, but it is currently useless. It won't accept KBD input, so I couldn't enter my reg key! Plus it didn't record the incoming voice of the phone calls! Not recommended - until these points are fixed by the author.

Disclaimer: I have no commercial interest in any of the products I have mentioned.

It is the one I am using and other than the occasional restart, it does fine. I occasionally have to re-enable it.

I too was interested in being able to record what is playing through the system rather than from the mic, does anyone know of an app that can do this record from the system output and not the mic?
