In my opinion, slingbox is the way to go. You buy the slingbox ($100 give or take a lil) set it up to your tv/cablebox and router, then watch what ever you can at home on your wm device :) gotta buy the slingmedia mobile player also, for $20. but no monthly fees. been using it for 2 years and love it.

if your computer has a tv tuner you can use a free program called orb. however, i like slingbox better. it will allow me to control the dvr and does not require that i leave my computer on when i am not at home.
