Smiley SMS Program (addon): Update 9/27
 

Update: Added latest version 1.53

This is a neat piece of software, still in development so it's not perfect.

Basically, it adds animated emoticons (smiley) to your SMS notifications and now the message itself in your inbox.

It also adds the contact's Picture to the notification, like Palm SMS as well as resizes the message to fit all on one screen, plus gives a bunch of options to dismiss, delete, reply, forward or call back the sender.

Make sure you setup the settings under Settings --> System --> SmileySMS

I'm attaching the latest beta/test release: 1.5

will this work with threaded SMS?

Nice program but anyway to get the hyperlink to work in MMS, because when recieving MMS the included hyperlink does not work and in fact is just an ordinary url

Someone could ask the developer--maybe he'll look into it.

well I'ved got it on my phone but haven't figured out how to actually USE it....however when people send me smiley's, it shows up as actual smilies now instead of just " :o) " So that's kinda cool

I've had a problem with my 6700 locking up since I installed this piece of software. I'm going to follow it over on XDA and see if anyone elsse is having this problem. I really do like the software, but will not stand for the lockups. Since I've gone to wM6.1 I can go forever without a reboot .until I loaded this software.

i know it doesnt thread sms but i have the 6.1 with the threaded txt already. will this program still work for us?

Hmm...I really care less about the smileys and more about the face of the person texting me showing up, but I don't need lock ups, that's for sure. I guess I'll stop the modding bug for a while and wait until Sprint comes through with the rom update and start all over. Would hate to install stuff now and get used to it, and then not be able to use it on 6.1.

I'm using 1.55. Everything is great. But.... you have to manually type in each smiley graphic. At the bottom left of the screen while writing a message there is a smiley face that I assume the developer put there to be used as a menu opener to all the smiley graphics. But once you click it, it goes away or shows a black menu. Must be a minor glitch.

I'm hoping someone will be able to extract the Treo 800w's messaging app. It is different than the usual WinMo 6.1 one, it includes a quick link to common phrases and smiley faces. Its similar to Cody's threaded SMS, except it works ;)
