Windows Marketplace is alive!
CABs available at XDA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567726 I've been playing around and downloaded 5 apps, 1 of them even cost me something. Overall I am very impressed with the UI and ease of use. As noted at other sites, no ability to install anywhere but main memory, but I don't think this is a big deal. I like the categories, rating systems, and install/purchase process. There is about 200 apps currently and it seems to be growing throughout the day so Microsoft is probably adding in anticipation of the hard launch tomorrow. |

Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!
I am tempted by some of the classic Namco games, but $6.99 seems a bit high to me. $2.99 or even $4.99 would be more palatable. I did purchase Jewel Quest II for $2.99 and pulled down weatherbug and AP news (both nice apps I didn't know existed). Does anyone know the licensing agreement on these apps? What happens when I want to upgrade devices in a year? Does it stay with my user-id and allow me to pull it down to another device? Is there a limit to the number like Apple imposes?

Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!
Has anybody figured out how to download apps from the appstore onto a storage card?

Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!
I like it so far. Download a bunch of free apps. I like the myspace app, better than the facebook one. Of course the facebook one would be perfect if it let you view all of the comments on a post instead of just the last. So lame. Anyway, marketplace is nice.

Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!
It works well enough, it just flashes back to my home screen everytime it changes screens.
Although I do really like the AP app. Also a lot of apps are way, way too much money. Hopefully this will make apps be much more competitive in their pricing. |
Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!

Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!
I'll reinstall and show the steps:
Click the MS SkyMarket.cab Decide where you want to install Device/Storage Card Hit Install Successfully installed Hit ok Start / All Programs Go to the bottom of the list and look for WM Marketplace - select When it opens it asks to download and install - select yes It will download a 686k File / It will install the rest of the files From there you should be able to accept, blah blah and then run the program. Sorry if I dumbed it down. I just went step by step on my installation process. |
Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!

Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!
Hi everybody, I've just installed the Marketplace on my Diamond that's running on Stock rom, WM 6.1. Somehow, I don't see the applications that some of you guys mentioned. So far, I can only see about 40-50 applications in which only 4-5 MS application are free (Facebook, MySpace etc).
How many applications you guys can see in the marketplace? And some of the prices I see for the application is quite high. Like $20-$30 for one application. Is that normal? |
Re: Windows Marketplace is alive!
Also just installed on my Diamond, with stock Sprint rom, and it works just fine. As you scroll through all the apps it does seem to gobble up my memory. Nevertheless, I do like. Even bought the updated Midomi app.
As always, thanks for all the info/links folks. El Mono P.S. Hoping for ShopSavvy soon. |
