Mini Beta 5 ( One Cab Install)

1 Attachment(s)
This morning a friend called me and told me that mini 5 was released. He wanted me to update my Mini Cab. So here you go. This will install only the mini beta 5.

If you are running my mini V8 uninstall first then restart. Then install V9.
I'm busy with school. I made this cab in 5 minutes. It works on my Touch Pro (running mighty mike 4 build 21051). So leave a feedback.

This will install

1. Esmertec Jbed 20090216.5.1
2. Opera mini
5 ( I compressed the Jbed.exe)
3. Signed Opera mini(no annoying network confirmation)
4. shortcut for opera mini.

Back up your Mini Files before you install this just incase.

Posting from OM now! Works great on my diamond running calks 6.5.1 rom, but the built in keyboard needs some work.

Settings ... advanced ... turn off in line editing ... use your installed keyboard.

Have noticed issues regarding opening certain links, and having to result to open links in separate tabs.

Other than that, a pretty solid beta so far!

Re: Mini Beta 5 ( One Cab Install)

I had a little time today. I was working(updating) on the OperaMiniV9 cab. So I can get it ready for the next update(whenever that is)

I was just wondering if anybody has a newer Opera Icon they could share. ( I guess I need the dll. for VGA) Mine is so old. I just flashed to EnergyRom.(I like his OperaIcon).

Or if anybody could tell me how to make one (quick guide maybe)

1.What software do I need?
2.Can I extract an icon in a rom and used it on my cab?

I would like to know this also... it's rather ugly and def doesn't fit in with the rest of Energy's ROM. I know this is trivial, and this build is awesome, but the icon is rather "old" looking...

Re: Mini Beta 5 ( One Cab Install)

is it possible to back up settings such as font size, mobile view and bookmarks?
gets old re-entering these all the time. opera sync is ok but you still have to log in and it only saves bookmarks.

Anyone having problems entering in the address in the browser and then when you hit ok it doesn't leave the insert field. Same if you hit cancel, basically it sits there... until I exit and reload mini.

it will do that if you don't have in-line editing enabled. Go to Settings>Advanced>In-Line Editing. There are some context-sensitive actions, like assigning a Speed Dial and the"Go" button when entering a URL, that appear only in the in-line mode.

I do... but only sporadically. It's exactly as you descibed it. I would select a box and a whole new screen (like Opera Mini USED to act if I recall) would pop up and hbe a blank text box, but once you hit enter OR cancel, nothing happens. I have to restart Opera Mini.

Again though, this only happens occasionally, and in spells, so once it happens if happens like that for a while. I don't know why, but it can be rather annoying.

Using Mighty Rom with WM 6.5 final on a Touch Pro, and was wondering if anyone else has the problem where when you slide out the keyboard to go into landscape mode, and then slide it back to switch to portrait mode, the screen goes white.

It's really annoying, and pretty much renders this browser useless for switching between the two modes. I am betting it has something to do with Esmertec JBed, and not sure if there's a workaround as Esmertec JBed is cooked into the Mighty ROM's...or then again it could be the version that comes with this cab...or then again it could just be a ubiquitous problem due to this being a beta....or

Im at a loss, can anyone help?

never had that problem with OM4, so it must be a beta glitch...

Same issue here, and it happens with a bunch of different versions of Esmertec. No doubt it's an annoying feature, and I agree it renders the browser almost worthless. I'd stick with Opera Mini 4.2 but it's been running very slow lately.

Hi boxer! Many thanks for sharing your work. As always, it's great on the VGA device.

How would this work on a WVGA device? I also have a Telus Touch Pro2 and I'd really like to use this cab as well.

Would appreciate any help you can give.

Many thanks once again.

Re: Mini Beta 5 ( One Cab Install)

Hi Boxer,

I already have 4.2 and want to keep it so I don't want to run the cab installer for mini opera 5 beta.

I've downloaded the opera mini 5 from a couple of places but they're unsigned. I have edited selector.utf but can't find the hex edtior I used so I thought I might ask you if you have a link for a signed version that will run on a touch pro?

Does your installer make opera mini the default browser or does it just create a shortcut?

Thanks
