Battery Monitor Software for Mugen?
 

I am not running the stock battery in my TP, and while the stock battery indicator on the taskbar, and dciBattery report the proper levels of the battery, tBattery does not do so. It still states that I have a 1340mAh battery even though I have a 3000 mAh battery installed. Is there an application available that will properly report the maximum settings of my battery, current drain rate, and estimated life of the Mugen 3000mAh battery?

I don't believe there is any specific code that will let developers see how big the battery is (I could be way off on this), but I'm currently developing an app that might suit your needs.

edit: Even if you end up not liking the program I'd still like to hear input on why u thought it sucked, if that is the case.

This may do what you ask and also can create logs of the batteries performance. I have a few other suggestions, I'll post in a minute.

Battlog is a simple utility that logs the battery performance. Use it to troubleshoot when and under what conditions the PPC uses the most power. The program provides a rolling graphical display of the latest data (Voltage, Current, and Temperaure) as well as saving additional information into the log file. Log entries can be recorded at 1, 5, and 10 sec intervals. New to version 0.2.1.105 is a battery Benchmark program.

Operation:

- The program will display the current battery status as soon as it is run.
- To begin logging, Select Update/Log and select Logging -> Log Location and enter the storage location for the log file. (the log file may reside either in main memory of on a storage card. If you place the log file on a storage card, please see the note below.
- To start Logging, select Update/Log -> Logging -> Start.
- To Start Logging, Select Update/Log -> Logging -> Stop.

CAUTION!

Please note that if you select the storage card for log storage, when waking the phone up the phone may take up to several minutes to wake up depending on the log frequency and length of time the phone has been asleep and whether power saving is enabled for the Storage Card.

What it logs:

- Date and Time.
- Is AC Charger Attached.
- Battery Voltage.
- Battery Current (Discharge).
- Battery Temperature.
- Battery level (%).
- Pertinent System events:
o Active Application.
o Speaker Phone Activity.
o Phone Radio Off/On.
o Phone Active Data Call (EVDO/1xRTT Activity).
o No Phone Service.
o Phone Searching For Service.
o Bluetooth Power State On/off.
o Bluetooth Hands Free Audio in use (BT Headphones).
o Bluetooth Hands Free Control in use (BT HF Headset).
o WiFi Power On.
o WiFi Connected.
o Bluetooth Connections Count.
o Bluetooth Connections Descriptions.
o Cellular Connections Count.
o Cellular Connections Descriptions.
o Phone Call (Talking).

WMMiniBattery is a Windows Mobile 2003 / WM 5.0 / WM6 software which shows the battery status at the top of the screen with a tiny (3 pixels) bar.

If the bar is tapped with the stylus, a window will pop up and show information about the battery status. Clicking on Quit, the program will close. Ok will hide the window. To modify colors and images, just edit "bar.bmp" in the program's folder (for example \Program Files\WMMiniBattery). It's a Windows bitmap divided in 6 parts: critical, low, high, empty space, charging, not ready/unavailable.

I'll give your application a try. :) On first impression, (prior to install, only have it on my computer so far, I need to email it to myself to put it on my phone). I suggest a *.cab install option. I have no problems with *.exe, and creating shortucts when needed, but some people can't do this, so I suggest having a *.cab install available. I'll use the app tomorrow and let you know what I think of it. :)

I used it today, and the only thing I can think of to improve it, (besides the above listed having a *cab install available), is that I had to manually configure the mAh capacity of the battery via Options to 3000, (no auto detect).

Also, after exiting the application and restarting it, (which would be a common use of it), the manual configuration of 3000mAh battery is lost, and resets to the default of 1340mAh. It must be set every time the application is executed. I would suggest either having a *txt file, a *.xml file, or utilizing the Windows Registry to store customized settings. (if auto-detect is not an option).

It's a good start, and usable as-is, but it still needs work to optimize the full potential of the application, (and to be UF).
