What will new Zune software mean for PPC?
Could the software be ported as a PPC application for our phones? We shall see. Checkout a preview

They are about to tie them all in together. Look for the Zune HD market to start showing up on your Xbox Live interface real soon!
The interface for the Zune is somewhat of a preview of what's coming in WinMo 7. The updated browser and multi-touch as well. |

Yeah, catchup, or progress? Either way, it's welcomed on my end.

That video is infuriating. I hate people who try to demo phones with one hand while filming with the other. Its always horrible and useless and unwatchable. Put the damn phone down on a table and film it.

Better video here for the ZuneHD interface
http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/11/z...media-edition/ I'd love to see this for WM ASAP, maybe WM 7 ? Even WM 6.5 is not there yet, but, this might be almost there, just needs to be made for our phones. |
Re: What will new Zune software mean for PPC?
It would mean that all OUR hardware will be obsolete!
M$ finally starts to move away from resistive touch screen...it would also mean that M$ will still be playing catch up considering both TP2 and Diamond2 are resistive touch still. There have YET to be any indications that capacitive touch is in the "NEAR" future. I have read that M$ will likely push both WinMo 6.5 and 7 at the same time...much like 6.1 and 6.1 professional for touch screen and non touch screen devices perhaps? Either way, M$ has screwed the pooch on this and is still playing catch up. If it were not for Sammy and HTC providing new fresh UI's (TF2d, TF3d, TouchWiz) For their Windows devices, we would be stuck in mid 90's hell on our PPC's. |
Re: What will new Zune software mean for PPC?
With the upcoming devices, especially those containing Nvidia Tegra chips in them, we will start to see much better hardware. Full 3D acceleration, multi-touch screens, multi-tasking, full flash capability, HD output, HD radio, etc. Things are definitely headed in the right direction.
Yes, both Samsung and HTC have been innovators in the industry, probably why they are both soon to release Tegra based devices to the market. Start looking for netbooks with the Tegra chip as well. The existing Intel Atom can't come close to it's capabilities or it's power saving ability. http://www.gsmdome.com/wp-content/up...-rm-eng-gg.jpg Netbooks, coming soon! http://www.mobinnova.com/en/news_elan.html Sample of Tegra 3D UI ability on mobile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDvaw...embedded#t=173 http://www.crunchgear.com/wp-content...ra_ii_logo.jpg "Nvidia’s Tegra chip hasn’t even hit the market, but we know for fact that Tegra 2 is on its way next year. There’s no set timeframe, but we believe it will hit the market sometime during the summer or so its been hinted at. The first Tegra device to be released stateside will be the Zune HD in the fall. I’ve already seen what it can do with Windows CE on a handful of netbooks that were showcased at Computex last month and I walked away very impressed. So what can we expect from Tegra 2? The chaps from Nvidia stated that Tegra 2 could go toe-to-toe with current laptop configurations. In other words, Tegra 2 is said to be twice as fast and powerful as Tegra 1. Does that mean we’ll see it as the stand-alone core for a regular laptop? Maybe. All we know is that it’s “twice as powerful” and will drop next year." Crunchgear |

Hopefully there will be a marketplace full of apps to support the ZHD, similar to the IPOD. |
