Pocket Express

I love this little free Handango Pocket Express program. It caches the like 50 different full news stories, which is nice because where I work lacks wifi coverage in certain places I like to do my reading.

However, for the longest time, I get an error that says "there are currently no news catagories avaliable"

Any ideas?

Try opening it again. There is a new updated version coming. It should prompt you to update soon.

I'd suggest uninstalling it, then reinstall. Since mine is still working, I'd assume something got glitched in yours -- maybe a file, maybe an error where you installed it (if to an sd card). BTW, if you can get on the beta program for iBrowz, it does a similar job, better interface, mostly different sources. The two complement each other very nicely. Pocket Express is more newsy, iBrowz more magazine oriented.

I downloaded a new copy of the program from Handmark. It looks newer, and it now has a new feature.

Not only will it say "no news categories available" it will crash after that now.

Maybe this one would work better for you. I know you already bought the other and should be able to run it though.

Re: Pocket Express

or you could try Handmark Express (free also), and Handmark doesn't charge to redownload your own programs!

Re: Pocket Express

handmark express is the program I'm having all these issues with.

I'll try the SB one.

Oh, Handango and Handmark are 2 different companies.
I have no problem with the Handmark one.

I don't know if you resolved your issue or not, but just keep trying it. Some days it glitches really bad, and won't seem to get a 'signal' even when you have one. When the signal is really bad is when you have the worst troubles. Sometimes I notice when my phone goes idle for too long, it takes awhile to get it to actually want to search for signal, sort of like the radio went off and doesn't want to to come back on.
