sending txt or making calls via the wireless
 

hey guys I am new here.
I work off shore and am gone for 28 days at a time.
I bought the htc touch pro for its wireless .I was told that I could call home via the internet.
we have wireless internet on my platform,I was told by a G1 user that he made calls with the internet connection.
Is this possible with the touch pro if so how do I go about it.

only way i can see this is to check out google voice and sign up for a number and wait.

You could install Skype mobile and make calls to other Skype users who have it on their pc/cell phone on wifi network.

You can also get a subscription to Skype - I pay about $3 a month for unlimited outgoing to any phone in the US or Canada. I think unlimited incoming is $18 for 3 months. The latest version of Skype works remarkably well. - sheureka
