TV Listings on your PPC: How to

So here's how to get TV listing easily on your PPC in a very sweet and free program.

It will also sync up via AS to keep you up to date:

(click here  ) Pocket TV Listings

When you're all set up (takes about 10 mins) you'll have this* on your device which is very sweet for Sling users! :D

*Note: I'm using the Grid Skin found on this page. You CAN also UPX this program down to about 150kb total from the original 400kb to save space/load faster.

UPX?

How do you use UPX in a ppc environment?

TIA
:?

UPX4PPC can be downloaded here

It's a little hit-or-miss as to what can be UPX'd but if something fails after you do it, just re-install.

Can't get PTVL to work

Hello I am in desperate need of the I-Bill PIN for the PTVL

Malatesta 12-01-2006 01:48 AM

I don't know what that is. :?

schettj 12-01-2006 10:17 AM

Looks nifty, will try it out.
Edit: Sweet - uses zap-2-it! I already have an account there for my pvr (GBPVR)

Malatesta, can you (maybe in another topic) run through your config? I see icons and a guage of some sort on the top bar of your screenshot that look interesting.

BOO B) 12-01-2006 10:26 AM

Maletesta I think he is also looking for the pay tv listings thru this.

I modified the Blue Grid skin by Neil Faulkner to be more 240x240 compatible. Enjoy. :)

This is a great program! Been using it for awhile now.

Here is a sweet skin also! Download it here!

Nice mod! Works great. Had no idea there were "days" that could be displayed

Simple, just change the ".zip" to ".esz", and copy to the PTVL directory!

Here is another (my favorite)! If anyone uses WA2, and remembers Juni's Navigator theme, this PTVL skin was made to match.... (by the same author)

It's called "Woodie"! Same deal, just change "zip" to "esz"....

The file is a bit large, because of the VGA Graphics! (guess I should have mentioned that these are VGA skins )

wow, that's ridiculous! Here I was extracting folders and files...

Yup, it works except for this caveat: Do these happen to be VGA skins? B/c the formatting is all screwy on a 240x240 screen.

Catman51 12-03-2006 03:04 PM

Any of these skins in QVGA, I even tried the ones at the site, and they must be VGA, cause they don't work?

PocketChange 12-03-2006 04:26 PM

Yep, these are VGA skins! But in the PTVL setup, it loads a program called "SkinzIt", which is used for making the skins. It Only will make a QVGA skin, so to make a VGA one is much more difficult....

Does this program still work?

I've set everything up but can not get my desktop computer to download the TV listings. It just keeps timing out.

jamaa124 12-17-2006 02:29 PM

i could never get wa2 or desktop to work right for me :(

lgreenberg 12-17-2006 02:31 PM

Yeah I'm about to give up here.

Have you setup your acct with zap2it? Have you run the setup app to add the TV listings sync option to AS?

lgreenberg 12-17-2006 02:48 PM

Yes and yes.

The problem has nothing to do with syncing.

I can't even download the listings using the WebLink application on my desktop.

Everything is installed. I've set up at account at Zap2it and entered those account details in the WebLink settings.

I start the WebLink process to retrieve my listings and it comes with with an error, "WARNING error (32) Unable able to open C:\PROGRAMS," .........

It tries three times then quits.

Hmmm... I just tried, and it worked fine, so the site is working. The last time I saw an error in downloading, it was because my subscription had expired, and I just needed to do their quick survey to renew...

It does sound like there is something not right in your setup! Maybe check that the user name and password are set correctly in the options...

lgreenberg 12-17-2006 04:05 PM

Thanks.

I've loaded up Pocket TV Browser and it's working so I'm going to play with it for a while.
