TF3D and Opera 9.7 beta
INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOUCH DIAMOND AND TOUCH PRO. HUGE THANKS TO mharvey (post #5) FOR THESE UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS, he took my instructions tweaked it and came up with a better solution.
**tested on Diamond and Pro and both worked. Rename the existing files in \Windows\ OperaL.exe -> OperaL.exe.bak (don't have to do anything with Opera9.exe, You could delete rather than rename but then you could not go back if you changed your mind.) Then copy: \Program Files\Opera Mobile\OperaL.exe -> \Windows\OperaL.exe \Program Files\Opera Mobile\Opera9-ml.exe -> \Windows\Opera9-ml.exe TF3D will now launch the Beta when I click the globe in TF3D or if I click a shortcut on the Internet tab in TF3D. |
Re: TF3D and Opera 9.7 beta
So you end up with two copies of the new Opera, one in \Program Files\Opera Mobile and the other in \Windows ?

Re: TF3D and Opera 9.7 beta
I now realize that your instructions do not refer to the Touch Pro. (I should have realized that from your distinction between "device memory" and "internal storage," a distinction that the Touch Pro does not have.)
For the benefit of others: The instructions do not work well on the Touch Pro. |
Re: TF3D and Opera 9.7 beta
I made this work on my Touch Pro... with slightly different instructions.
My Opera 9.7 Beta is installed in \Program Files\Opera Mobile\ I renamed the existing files in \Windows\ OperaL.exe -> OperaL.exe.bak (don't have to do anything with Opera9.exe, You could delete rather than rename but then you could not go back if you changed your mind.) I then copied: \Program Files\Opera Mobile\OperaL.exe -> \Windows\OperaL.exe \Program Files\Opera Mobile\Opera9-ml.exe -> \Windows\Opera9-ml.exe TF3D will now launch the Beta when I click the globe in TF3D or if I click a shortcut on the Internet tab in TF3D. |
Re: TF3D and Opera 9.7 beta

I'm glad you figured out a way for the Pro, I thought it would be the same, but seeing how I have a Diamond and no way to test on a Pro, I know now...I was wrong. Im gonna uninstall both Operas I have and reinstall them to test out your way again for the Diamond. Also going to point first post to your post for Pro instructions. EDIT: Harvey your instruction were flawless...I know I tried the same route before, so maybe I left something out...it worked for my Diamond. I'm gonna change the first post completely to your instructions...and send everyone your way for thanks. |

Re: TF3D and Opera 9.7 beta
That is easy... thanks thou. but anyone sees the problem with Opera 9.7 beta on SPB MS? I have TF3D and SPB on Touch Pro and it won't lounch on SPB. Actually it would freez any Opera lounch, it starts in the center with a litle animation for few sec and drops off. One more thing is it will start in TF3D and after that SPB will never start. any qlue?

Re: TF3D and Opera 9.7 beta
I dont use TF3D anymore, I use standard Today Screen with SPB MS3 and it launches just fine for me. You've probably already soft reset and tried again right?
When it doesn't launch like that it means usually that the phone isn't finding the right OperaL.exe file, but what makes it weird is that it will launch in TF and not Mobile Shell. Then after you launch in TF you cant launch Mobile Shell anymore? That's even more weird. I would try uninstalling 9.7 and delete the folder, then reinstall 9.7 and do the instructions again. or hard reset and do everything over again. You obviously like TF3D alot, thats why you still have it, but I'd get rid of that, then you can dump 9.5 altogether and just launch 9.7 |
