Speereo Voice Launcher 1.0 released

Speereo Software is proud to present the next-gen User Interface for touchscreen Windows Mobile devices. Speereo Voice Launcher enables users to start applications, web pages and documents (files) with the press of 1 button and a voice command. You don't even need to close the current application and go back to the Today screen. The operation is truly intuitive once you set up the program in 5 to 10 minutes.

With Speereo Voice Launcher user is 2 words away from any imaginable content. For example to have “Weather Forecast” at hand one can pick any weather data provider that seems trustworthy, set up the page layout, including any city, the forecast period, e.t.c. To do this you have to visit the web page once, set all view parameters, then copy the address and paste it in the Launcher “Voice Command” tab. The last step is to type any voice command. Apart from this example, there are numerous applications for this technology. You can launch web sites, programs, photo albums, music playlists, frequently used documents, e.t.c.

With Speereo Voice Launcher you can free your Today screen from icons to display the information you really need (phone calls, appointments, weather, e.t.c.). Speereo Voice Launcher dramatically improves the usability of your Windows Mobile device. Voice-enabled products tend to be costly, we offer SVL for just $9.95. Just download the trial and evaluate.

Designed for Microsoft Windows Mobile Touchscreen only.

For additional information go to http://www.speereo.com/Products/launcher.html

How it works & how to set up:

This is a new product, so we really need user feedback to decide what to develop further.

Can you make a small announcement on the front page?
We are ready to give away 30 free copies to every person who is ready to install the trial & give feedback:
- what should be improved
- what features should be added
- what bugs or issues do you have on your device

This means we're one step closer to speech-to-text programs, right?

seanosaur

Well, I guess we are kinda on the right path :^)

We have some issues with the buttons though. At least on HTC Touch HD.
The thing is Windows Mobile doesn't let you to rebind all buttons.
You can't set recognition on the volume rocker and tapping the screen for recognition can be clumsy.

seanosaur, can you check buttons in WM Settings? Do you have any to rebind.
I was able to bind the "camera" key on the older HP device, but I'm not sure it's gonna work on Omnia

Re: Speereo Voice Launcher 1.0 released

I would be happy to Beta test but the download link on your website seems to be corrupted. Also will this have the functions in the future of something like the Tellme versions for winmo 6.5 or vlingo? It gives a "buy it now screen"...yet this seems like a beta from your comments. I don't mind the $9.95 if it works as advertised but I would like to test it first.

Re: Speereo Voice Launcher 1.0 released

Sorry, but I'm somewhat skeptical. You wouldn't believe the problems I had with the Speereo Voice Organizer on my Apache. (I noticed it is still for sale on your website and does not appear to have been upgraded in more than two years.) It never installed properly, never worked, required soft resets to close it, could not be totally uninnstalled, and tech support never got back to me. I had to migrate to my present TP phone to leave the uninstallable files behind. And I still can't get rid of the Speerio Voice Organizer and Sapi files on my laptop. I don't like being negative. But Speereo VO was the only truly negative experience I've ever had with PPC software. It was enough to wake up my warning radar about any Speereo product.

LOL we have all had those experiences but sometimes companies learn from they'er mistakes and if they don't what do we care. We hard reset and shout from the heavens how hard they suck on the dozen or so forums we frequent. So Speereo if you want input...we will be happy to give it but gird your loins...

Re: Speereo Voice Launcher 1.0 released

Sooooooo i have a TP and its not working period...it loaded but the buttons to launch won't activate the program... I even tried Sapie...nope nada mucho. BTW this does work with 6.1 correct? I'm if not thats just silly...but then again. I'm just trying to get some insght on what might be wrong. If your going to post the software get it to work on what we are currently using. Nobody is running 6.0 or 5.0...well im sure there is somebody but this software will be as outdated as they are. It looks good on paper get to work on my phone and now ur talkin.

Re: Speereo Voice Launcher 1.0 released

@ WanderingMinstrel
Yup, I remember your experience, Stephen. What else can I add? Sh#t happenz.
You can download CAB file and get rid of any unistallation issues.
I am not the coder, I provide feedback and link R&D with users.
All issues are sent to them, but I can not guarantee that everything works right. By the way, 99% of Support questions come from WM users (we also have Symbian & Java apps), so maybe, just maybe it's not only Speereo's problem, but also MS poor APIs right?
That's why my post "sounds" like a beta. That's why I give it for free cuz issues are always possible.
I had personal experience with 2 phones - HP WM 5.0 with QWERTY & GSmart WM 6.1 with numeric keyboard.
Everything works like a charm. The only thing I needed to set up is short button press for floating bar and long button press for recognition. Make sure you unbinded default key setting in WM options.

@ rdavidsmith
So the link works then?

1. Set floating bar to short key tap. It looks like horizontal bar. You can see it under time & date on the screenshot:

Set long button press for recognition.
The recognition process is indicated by the phrase "SpRec: Mic On" on the top of the screen (instead of the word "Start").
You have to say the command with active Mic On status.
This SpRec: Mic On can change in 2 ways.
1 (wrong). "SpRec: <Short" indicates that the press wasn't long enough and the recognition process hadn't been started. Whatever you said, you haven't been heard by the system.
2. (right) "SpRec: Recognizing" means that the engine works properly. If you have said something and no app was started try raising the MIC Sensivity level in MW settings.

Please post your device model, so I can provide feedback and/or test.
