[APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
1 Attachment(s)
What is Battery Recalibration and Why Would You Need It?
Lithium-Ion batteries (most probably the one in your device) sport a battery level meter, like an electronic "fuel gauge" or State Of Charge meter which is responsible for reading the amount of charge your device’s battery holds at a certain point. Windows Mobile uses the information from those readings to display remaining battery level on your device. Many of you might have been in the situation (I know I have been) when your device notifies you of low battery but after soft reset, you power meter will show 20-30% left, or simply (and this happened to me several times) it will indicate a full charge when actual battery level is indicated at around 90%, but not 100%. You know you need to “recalibrate your battery” when anything like this happens. Here’s the deal: even though it is not recommended to fully discharge Li-Ion batteries (as opposed to NiCd batteries), it is advised to do this around every 30-40th cycle (that is approximately 30-40 days or so for most people) in order to recalibrate the metering system on your battery. The principle is simple: you need to drain your battery completely so that the meter would acknowledge a close to 0% and start counting from there. Repeated everyday charging will get this slightly out of accuracy. The bottom line: completely drain your battery around every 30-40th cycle and do a full recharge with the supplied wall charger while having the device powered off. Keep it charging until you see the fully charged LED notification. You’ve recalibrated your battery and contributed to its longer, healthier life. Mobadi is a little application to discharge and monitor your internal battery. It will support only different HTC Devices and the Sony Ericsson X1i (Xperia), but Versions for non-HTC Devices are comming up soon. The downloadable Version will run on VGA and non-VGA Devices. On older devices like the Trinity, the Bettery-Percentage are 5% or 10%-Steps. So the Diagram are not so detailed like on the Touch-Versions. Caution: At the Update from 1.9.518 to 1.9.519 you must uninstall the older Version first. Because of an wrong Name in the old Version, it will not update automatically. For the next Updates you dont have to do this. In some test, Mobadi have increased the used mAh up to 370%! So the Bettery will discharge faster. http://www.1800pocketpc.com/blog/wp-...main_black.png Xda thread for Mobadi:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=516458 |

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
Thanks! I'll give this a try.

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
nice write up, although I just use the nuebattery disable flight mode, so I can simply use my phone until it's completely dead, of course I also have a 2nd battery.

Thanks for the app!

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
Beautiful app! I can't wait for other versions because I am interested in trying this out on my Omnia. I will definitely check back for updates. THANKS!!!

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
if discharging lion is bad. then why do it at all? the overall life wont be better if you discharge every month as its bad for your battery right?

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
it's the old multi cell lithiums that shouldn't be fully draind, cuz one cell may go too low and never come back. the newer ones don't have that issue. also this recommendation floats around because lion has a limited number of charges, but I ask you what's the point of wearing out the top half and never touching the bottom... so after a few months or a year you only have 1/2 compacity..... I think not.
I prefer just actually using my phone until dead (0%) |

I prefer just actually using my phone until dead (0%)[/QUOTE] Im not quite sure what you mean by that, but the point of this thread was to use this app as a way to really drain your battery to 0. Just letting your phone die is not actually draining your battery to 0. More like 10%. The phone usually shuts down before that. Unless you have a battery tweak that lets the phone stay on longer with limited battery. |
Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
do I have that tweak... lol.. am I a geek? lol..
j/k that is a good point, this app is more for those who are too scared to run no2's hacks. |
Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
Ok has anyone tried this app to know if or works and if so how good? Can I haz results?

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
I don't think you guys are understanding what this application does. It does not exercise the cells in the battery to keep them at optimum health.
Lets start out by saying that modern lithium batteries have a built in micro controller that controls how the cells charge and monitors their discharge as well. The micro controller reports the health or capacity of the battery to the phone. Which in tern shows us the percentage of battery left based on the current charge level compared to maximum. Well as lithium batteries get older like all rechargeables this maximum becomes lower. However the controller does not compensate for the difference and reports the original maximum to the phone. This is why we sometimes see 90% when we take it right off the charger. Now the recalibration runs the cells till the controller goes into emergency shut off to protect the cell voltage from dropping to low. This takes the power off the controller and resets it. When you power it back up by charging it the controller will now "relearn" the battery. This is why it is important in this process not to remove the phone from the charger until it is completely full. The controller has now learned the new maximum charge level for the phone and now reports it correctly. |

And I am sorry If my first post did not get the point across most effectively. Thanks for the extra clarification. |
Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
doesn't work on my omnia....the discharge I meen......

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
does this app will help me to resolve my problem with full charge ?
sometimes i charge my phone until 100% but when I got in the windows battery settings, it's written that my phone has never been charged completely... |

Yes, that is exactly what this helps with. |
Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
Alright thx. I tried it. But my phone still shows "last full charge: not applicable" ... what is the full charge indicator on the phone. I thought it was ready but I opened the phone and I was already at 90% :/

Yeah I waited to see the "round light" stop "turning" ... :/

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
Your battery might just be going bad. Or if your not running a stock rom, you can try to flash back to stock to see if that helps, if not your battery is just going bad.

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
Well... I charge it every day like any other people I think. For me it's ok. I was just using your cab for the health of the battery if you want...

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
I've been looking for something like this. Thanks.

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
i know this thread is old but... this app never reached a final version? looks like a handy little tool. im about to give it a try.

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
how long does the discharge take? i mean, my battery dies 4-5 hours after i take it off charge anyways lol

Re: [APP]Battery Recalibration- Mobile Battery Discharger=Better battery life!!!!
i have used this app before and i think it is a good concept. However i have found a app that resets your battery's S-O-C % (state of charge) while the phone is running.
it is called smart.cab and it does alot of other stuff too for battery level go to close>battery monitor>soc reset its originally made for the omnia i8000 but i use it on a i920...........................just cant access some of the functions http://phj.hu/i8000/Smart.CAB translated description page Google Översätt |
