im away from home and left a program running on my computer but i recently flashed my phone which naturally reset everything. i forgot to reprogram my IP before leaving the house. its nothing urgent but i just wanted to check the status of the program so my question to you guys is is there anyway that i can locate the ip address of my home computer while im not sitting right in front of it? if not its no big deal i just figured it never hutrs to ask. if it matters im using mightys reborn rom.

As far as i know, in all my nerdery, if this were possible, it would be a huge security risk. Also, if it were easily accomplished, i don't know that it could be done from a phone. So, at the moment, I'm gonna throw the dart at no. If anyone else know better, though, feel free to correct me.

Did you leave an IM client signed in at your home computer? If so, yes, yes you can find your home IP easily.

Goto dyndns.com and assign a free DNS address to your home IP address. You just have to install a small client that checks your home computers IP address and updates the dyndns website so it knows what to link to.

The really cool thing is that your home router probably already has a DynDNS function, so you most likely won't have to install any software.

use this! I have been using it for years and can do a lot of things through my home desktop without having to memorize my ip address. and since most of us have dynamic ips we can just always remember the dyndns name and not have to worry about our ips changing.

Also a router that supports it makes life a lot easier.

You can also look into Logmein.com if that is easier.

I use DynDns with my Netgear router. The Netgear router has a client built into it that automatically updates your information when/if it changes. From that setup I am able to run ssh, privoxy, ftp, & rdc and i have access by simply typing in my personall "address"
