Geocaching

If you like geocaching, check out BasicGPS:

BasicGPS is software application designed primarily for Geocaching, and runs on Phones and PDAs equipped with the Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0/6.1 Operating System.

One of the main features of BasicGPS is that the application actually speaks to you, providing a range and bearing to the cache site. This is particularly useful in areas of 'high muggle activity'. You can put the phone in your pocket, use headphones, and the voice will guide you to the cache site!

I like it a lot. It looks like my (Grandfather-in-law?)' handheld garmin. It mimicks the interface pretty well and can accept .gpx and .loc files. Really simple, really fun. Have fun with your geocaching.

There are threads related to this also. However, I also use this application and it works well on my Touch Pro. It also handles Pocket Queries from Geochaching.com. A note though, Geochaching.com does not allow the mention of this application on their site.

Re: Geocaching

It and a few other applications have and in some cases still use icons that Geochaching.com maintains are proprietary. The developer of BasicGPS removed the icons and all are still banned from mentioning the application, though it does get past the guards on occasion.

Another application that is popular: Cachemate -- the interface is not as nice.
