HTC Touch Pro Display Carrier Name on Today Screen
 

Hey all,

I have a wierd question. I travel abroad a lot on cruise ships as I work for a cruise line. They have this ungodly expensive service calls "Cellular at Sea" and I would like to know when the ship has turned this on so if I need to make a call I dont mistakenly spend $2.49 a minute making that mistake. Usually land based carriers can cover about 10 miles out to sea.

On the today screen (I disabled TF3D), I would like to see the name of the carrier I am currently on so I am aware that I am roaming, I dont want to disable roaming because I might have a good reason to receive a call but would like to be better informed when doing so :)

What I would like is either a rom hack or setting or a program I can buy that can do this for me. If I google this subject I get everything but what I am seeking to do.

Not with a CDMA carrier. GSM carriers will show exactly who you are using.

That seems a little strange, surely the phone should know what carrier its talking to? There is absolutely no application I can buy that would give me this information?

OK FYI - I found one, SPB phone suite, now I am not roaming NOW, but will be on one of our ships this weekend and will test it out, it is showing my carrier name on it now so I dont see why it wouldnt show it abroad or on the ship or when I get to the Cayman Islands.
