Download it from your phones browser. Or you may not have Java installed on your device (although unlikely)

actually Bolt very much improved. Kind of reminds me of Teashark which seems to be out of action. Thanks for the update:headbang:

do you have jbed installed? If not, you can install one of the jbed cabs out there. Then you can use bolt, or opera mini. If you need a jbed let me know. Also check your programs for a Java coffee icon or a big E and that should be it.

anyone have any luck saving passwords in Bolt. Tried to do this but they never stick like mini. Other than that, this browser is very good.

Re: Bolt web browser updated

Holy **** this thing is fast.

I mean seriously, they must be rendering most of the stuff on their servers (a la Opera 9.7) and then uploading the page to us as an image file or something.

For example, the time it takes to FULLY load a couple of the websites is as follows:

Nytimes.com:
Iris Browser (1.1.6) = 1 min 20 secs
Opera Mobile (9.5) = 1 min 13 secs
Bolt = 9 secs

Just for kicks: Desktop (Opera 10.00 1) = 2 secs

9 seconds!

Engadget.com:
Iris Browser (1.1.6) = 1 min 45 secs
Opera Mobile (9.5) = 1 min 30 secs
Bolt = 9 secs

Just for kicks: Desktop (Opera 10.00 1) = 2 secs

9 seconds, again.

Seriously, this thing is almost as fast as my laptop/desktop =D>

Plus, scrolling throughout a page/site is silky smooth.
No choppiness whatsoever, and also no more checkerboard backgrounds.

They need to tweak the UI to make it more finger-friendly, and allow you to run flash-based videos directly within the browser instead of saving it then playing it with your media player, but aside from that, this is my new browser of choice.

Amazingly fast and renders impeccably well.

I'm having the same problems. Passwords just never save on this. If i could figure it out, i'd be using it alot more often. Everyone having this issue, or just me and riley? Thanks

I installed bolt and used it the first time after it installed. Where do you run it from the second time. It didn't create any icons or anything. How do i start java applications I guess is my basic question.

I think everyone will have this issue. I actually contacted Bolt tech support and they responded back to me but never answered the question. They gave me instructions on how to enter text instead....so I replied back today and asked them again. Told them the problem is isn't adding passwords, it's retaining the password information like you can do with opera mini. Hopefully they come up with a fix. Thanks

find the big E icon in your programs. or go to the programs tab and look for esmertec java. You need to open your java vm first and select Bolt. good luck.

I appreciate you taking the time and making inquiries about this issue. I dont recall, was this also an issue with the first release? My memory is shot :)

I think so but I really didn't give the first one much of a workout. Honestly, if they would add the ability to save passwords, I would use this daily. I actually renders several pages better than mini-which I love and is just as quick. Oh well, we'll see what they say. Also, keep your eyes out for Opera 9.7 which should come out in May. It's going to be the best browser ever, hybrid between mini speed and mobile rendering. Awesome stuff.

Re: Bolt web browser updated

Here is the response from Bolt today:

Hello,

Yes this is very important to us, I will send this to our senior engineer
group.

Thank you for helping us to make BOLT better by sharing your feedback.

Thanks,
BOLT Beta Support Team at Bitstream
support@boltbrowser.com

my question to them:

Thanks but this is not the answer to my question. I know how to enter
logins, the problem is Bolt doesn't retain the passwords like opera mini.
So if close the session, and go back to your bookmarks, the passwords are
not saved so you need to re-enter them. Just something you guys should
look into because this prohibits me from using this browser over mini. I
can be up and running much quicker with them due to the passwords being
saved but your Browser renders better so you would probably pick up alot
more users with this feature. Thanks.

Here you guys.. I just edited my opera mini shortcut to open bolt instead....

I installed opera mini then bolt...if it's not working for you. Open the shortcut with note pad and edit S__ to what ever the bolt is. Mine was Opera MINI s0 and bolt was s1

28#"\Windows\jbed.exe" -run s1_?\

The significant changes in this release include the following:
  • Enhanced Favorites management – rearrange your Favorite entries using the 'Grab' feature
  • Ability to disable images in Web pages for even faster page load speeds and reduced data cost
  • Cyrillic language and font support, including extensible server-based language pack support
  • Inline text entry. This means you can type text directly into Web forms and Web pages.
  • Support for copy-paste
  • Rich text rendering with support for Bold and Italic text formatting
  • Support for Socket transfer protocol
  • Automatic detection of device security capabilities; HTTPS is disabled and BOLTs lightweight encryption is used if the device does not support HTTPS security mechanism
  • Page information dialog to view detailed information on the Web page you are viewing
  • Built-in bug reporting dialog in BOLT help
  • Non JSR-75 Build for BB platforms

In this Beta3 release, we have an additional lightweight version also available, BOLT lite that has been optimized to install and run on entry-level mobile devices with limited memory and system resources. Wanna say THX for this. Its the best browser to navigate pages with to date. Trying ppc browsers has become hobby of mine ;) and despite my hopes for fixes or features am really enjoying this on the 6700.

I got it in every version that enabled you to watch a video. I had a ROM that didn't have Opera installed. So Installed various versions of Opera and I still had the error. I posted about it on various sites, but never got a fix.
