Re: Sprite VirtualMobile *Free Beta

I just went through the lengthy registration process and am now downloading the mobile client. Will report back after first online backup.

UPDATE: The mobile client is a 8.5MB install! Holy crap!

Its pretty nice but i still like vufone better...although i have a pay...but 9 bucks a year aint bad. Vufone does documents as well which was the big selling point for me. Ill test this out for awhile though. Its still a beta so im sure they will make some improvments. Also im not sure why this client is so large...

So I got the mobile client installed and set up. It was a breeze. Here are some screen shots of the process:

I like the multiple phone option. also the remote lock/ect.. which I'm assuming this will eventually merge somehow with their terminator and backup apps.

I wasn't aware of vufone though.. let us know the difference. (it's on sale thru april)

thanks for the screen shots dan, I was too lazy :p

Anyone using this with a Diamond or Touch Pro, can you tell me if it degrades the contact photo on TouchFlo 3D. That's the only problem I had with Vufone.

Re: Sprite VirtualMobile *Free Beta

It has a lot of the same functions and feel of Dashwire, but more options like you said. Even the logo kind of looks like DW's. I will be keeping this though, when I put on a new ROM now all I have to do is run this along with Seven and my phone all synced back up again, then I just have to install the proggys and I am back in business-

i'm not sure, but sprite backup does. virtualmobile suffers from the same poor contact management that dashwire does though, at least as far as duplicates go. :(

I had trouble @1st with my 2nd phone, a reboot is needed after first successful sync, and if your on sprint, the txt may not have been timely.

Use SEVEN for contact and calendar if you are using Google, then use this for everything else-

Re: Sprite VirtualMobile *Free Beta

I this an actual 2-way sync or just backup? The thing I hated about Dashwire is that it will backup my photos but not let me sync/manage them. So it I delete photos or SMS off their site, it does not delete those from my TP.

Thanks!

Thanks for the follow up. I want to give it a shot but 8MB is a lot to give up on the device and I hate apps that screw up the contact picture.

thanks for the info.

There are so many choices now. I'm using Myphone from MS. Anyone care to compare the two?

I like idea of a lock features but wonder how much they'll charge after the Beta.

Any reason I should use this over MS My Phone?

Re: Sprite VirtualMobile *Free Beta

2gb vs 200mb, control over sync & folders, remote lock/wipe.
i'm not that familiar with myphone soo..

btw, it's only 8mb storage, the background app is <200k ram

I installed it and gave it a shot. It backed up and restored contacts without degrading the image quality. Overall it seems pretty fast and appears to work good. We'll have to see how much they plan to charge for this after beta....

I'm testing it too but a monthly fee vs free for Myphone...

"Once out of beta we plan to charge a small monthly subscription fee for using the service. We expect this to be added early in Q1 ’09. You’ll get plenty of notice beforehand and can remove your data at any time."

I can't get this to sync on my 800w. It says updating but the status bar doesn't change. I've checked my account online and there's nothing there. I've soft reset several times. The first time I soft reset the first thing that came up was VirtualMobile asking for my login and password. The next two times I soft reset it didn't ask for this info. Not sure whats going on. Anyone else experiencing any of this?

did you ever get a red screen asking to install a certificate? the first sync should pop it up, and you can't sync unless it's installed.

I just downloaded Sprite Backup and Sprite Terminator. For those interested: There's a 50% off package deal along with a 25% off Easter sale. Hopefully it's worth it. Any experiences with this software?

I was hoping this was an update to the Terminator/Sprite Backup combo, having device wipe 'n all + Backup sync into one package.

I'm thinking it will be, when it's no longer beta, but imo they have a ways to go.
