[cab] NoSleep- completely removes the sleep time out during calls

1 Attachment(s)
Tired of your screen turning off during phone calls? Want to have access to the in call options for the duration of your phone call? Did the Diamond Tweaks not work for you? Well my friend, you are in luck. The NoSleepAPM.cab (attached to the bottom of this post) will solve your problems.

Ok, that ends my cheesy infomercial sales pitch.

I found this cab through this article on fuzemobility, which was written about this post over at xda.

As some of you may already know, there is another solution for this very same problem. It's called InCall Screen Tweak and uses the phone's G-sensor to turn the screen on/off, but what if you want the screen to remain on no matter what? That's exactly what this .cab does. After about a minute, the backlight turns off, but the screen remains on (it's just dimmed).

Give it a try and share your experiences:
1. what rom you are using
2. what phone you are using

Note: Soft reset after installing the cab.

Also, if you are using the InCall Screen Tweak, you should uninstall that before trying this as it will cause conflicts.

Umm... Really? Where? Thank you for your insightful post pointing me/others in the right direction.

I don't want to sound like a complete d'ick, and I like to be a little more helpful than that in my posts than you tried to be, so here goes:

Running a forum search for "nosleep" gives you 2 results. My thread here, and "how to disable screen blanking in call" which can be found here. In that thread, there is a post with a link to an xda post called NoSleep!!, which can be found here. Yes that is another cab that gives the same solution to this problem.

However, that is not the same as what I posted here. NoSleep!! has a side effect of controlling SmartTouch as well. The cab I posted, NoSleepAPM.cab, does not. This was all explained in the xda link to the cab posted here, but I guess you just missed that. NoSleepAPM includes the reg edits from NoSleep!!, but has the added benefit of not messing with SmartTouch as well. I guess that's why their names are so similar. Who's on first?

So, before I posted this, not only did I run a search here, but I also googled it as well including "ppcgeeks" in the search terms. I didn't find this posted, and definitely not in its own thread. Just thought others might find this useful. But hey if I missed it, and this is a repost I'll happily get this thread closed once you provide the link.

Until then, I'll just say thank you for your "help."

just curious, but why would you want your screen on the whole time you're on a call? when you put the to your face, you typically touch the screen and end up doin things you dont want to do. is it really too hard to press the power button if you want your on screen options?

Some people find it easier, like when calling your bank or credit card company and having to type in numbers and prompts at various times during the call. Some prompts have very short timeouts, and if you fumble around not pressing the power quickly enough and typing in your numbers, you'll have to redo it.

Also, I never hold the phone directly on my face. I press the speaker of the phone on my ear, but there is no screen up there anyways. So having the screen on really isn't an issue. And if it is gonna be a long call, you can just manually press the power button to turn the screen off save some battery.

It does appear that I misread, So I guess my post wasn't as insightful as it should have been. However it did give you the ability to show everyone how to overreact to such a tiny oversight and be a huge d!ckface so I guess it was helpfull in that regard.

As I said I misread his post, it appears that this hasn't been posted, I'll have to take a mulligan on this one.
