should point out this is a program being developed at XDA

I don't believe it is trying to take your card info, as there have been no reports of it over at XDA

Well here's the thing. First, he says "using a credit card and a camera." With as many untrusting people as there are out there, I woulda said wallet sized card. Then people say it tries to connect to the internet after snapping a photo. These reports could be false of course.

The whole idea of using this app to steal CC#'s just seems so funny to me though which is why I posted. He definitely needs to reword his app description lol.

thas just crazy!!! lol i actually thought it was pretty clever using the credit card to set the scale... but the rest is just devious!

well, setting a scale via credit card would be easy to set, they are standard sizes. But it should say flip it over or something.

As for using a business card, they are not set standards, as they might be cut differnt and what not. I can see the reasoning, but I still ain't gonna do it.

Holy crapola, that's pretty smart. I'm not gonna lie! But really, there's not much he can do without your CVV2 [unless he has a generator for that]

How about using the credit card, but masking out the numbers?

This guy wrote a ruler program that measures something based on you laying your credit card next to it. Nevermind the fact that a library card is the same size, he says you need a credit card. Comments state that after taking a picture, a connection to the internet is made. Gee, I wonder why LOL.

So basically, there are a bunch of dumb people taking pictures of their credit card numbers and submitting them to god knows where.

I just thought this was funny, and also for anyone who thought of using it, this post could serve as a warning.

Wow, I was actually considering downloading this app. It seemed like an interesting idea. I've gotta say I'm glad I read this post, Thank You SO much. As disgusting as it is, I really must say that's a VERY creative way to get credit card numbers...

Hello,
I'm the creator of this app...You can use anything that has a credit card size. People saying it's sending data over the net are just stupid!! source code is open on codeplex ( http://darkruler.codeplex.com ) and the only internet connection is for auto update : go to the option menu and disable if you don't want it!
funny to see comments from people who don't know what they are talking about!!!! to them : setup on a device emulator, take a picture and monitor network traffic (NetMonitor from microsoft should be a good start) : if you find any "personal" data there tell me!!!!!
See Ya',
DarkAngel

@moderators : could you please edit the post from chronster : this is like an insult to me, I know he is the only responsible for what he is saying but I take it as a personal offense.
