Re: [3/1/09] New Omniano version- now with drums!!

thanks for letting me know of the update... is the piano part faster now? There was a slight lag in the earlier version, wondering if the developer fixed it...

Re: [3/1/09] New Omniano version- now with drums!!

I think the piano part is faster now. And chord changes seem a bit smoother also.
The drums are cool. I reported a possible bug on bass drum which clicks instead of booming on my TP. But the other drum kit components are lots of fun. Shoen, the guy who came up with this, is a musical programming wizard of the highest order. I check his thread at XDA every couple of days for updates.

Re: [3/1/09] New Omniano version- now with drums!!

First i have to say i love the piano and how this guy finally brought us a working one... many have tried, many have failed and he is the only one to get it to resemble an actual instrument. I have one big complaint... i don't want to sound ungrateful (as i love his app), but this app is so freakin huge... 18-19 mb? What's it going to look like when he adds the other two instruments... i only really want the piano, but that would mean going back to the original and missing out on the updates for the piano. I hope he realizes that not everyone wants the entire band and he comes out with separate instruments apps... I might have to go back to the original piano only app until then :(

Re: [3/1/09] New Omniano version- now with drums!!

i'm not too put off by the size... i got room to spare. but yeah it's gonna be pretty swollen when the other instruments get added.

Damn, the file's huge!! Maybe this guy can hook with the guy that made the guitar app. That way if I get laid off I could go on the street and perform A-One-Man-Band for tips.

Re: [3/16/09] Omniano- The Band Edition v1.0 (w/ piano, drums, and now flute)

1 Attachment(s)
its still not small, but its way smaller.. and i havent messed with BAND, but ive has this standalone omniano for a few weeks atleast i think, and works just fine..

maybe this one came from the guy that did the guitar one(assuming from an above post their not the same person).. so also to an above post there is a guitar one over on xda, just maybe not in the band edition..

Re: [3/16/09] Omniano- The Band Edition v1.0 (w/ piano, drums, and now flute)

This program is amazing. With 8, 16 or 32G storage cards, size should not be a problem.
This version has significantly improved sound on my TP and the piano lag is virtually gone. Speaking as a Wandering Minstrel, you could definitely use this on the street to perform for small change, and if the economy doesn't start recovering soon, we all may be doing that. Three geeks with TPs playing together could make a very cool band.

The flute works if you disable the microphone (in Options) and just press the keys. Shoen will probably be fixing the mic part pretty soon. The guy, like rust, never sleeps. Actually blowing out the flute notes defies my imagination.

The guitar app is from someone else, Iperov. And he seems to have taken it as far as he wants to. With the new skin on XDA, it's beautiful. But the strings are backwards.

Shoen planned to include a guitar on the omniano originally. Maybe he will still add it on in a future version. I sent him a coffee donation already. That's how impressed with his work I am.

My guess is that it's the mike (hole) on the bottom of the phone that you talk into when you're makiing calls. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Until we get a working flute fix, we may not know for sure.

Re: [3/16/09] Omniano- The Band Edition v1.0 (w/ piano, drums, and now flute)

yep. You guys need to send in the mic info with the exe he posted so he can recognize it in his program. On the omnia I'm sure it works fine, but on the touch pro, he has no way of telling where the mic source is.

Just some examples:

WQVGA- Omnia
VGA- Diamond, Touch Pro
WVGA- Touch HD

Yeah, I sent in my mictest log last week.
At his usual speed, Shoen should have the fix out sometime next week for sure.
BTW, he has confirmed that the final version will also have guitar. His own version, not iperov's. I continue to be impressed.

i showed the iperov's guitar app to my friend who plays the guitar and he didnt like it lol. I still think its cool. I wish I could play it though.

Yeah, I think it is cool too. And it sounds great. I still can't orient to the reversed chords though.

Re: [3/16/09] Omniano- The Band Edition v1.0 (w/ piano, drums, and now flute)

There is a new version out, but users are still reporting problems with the flute (which was the main fix in this version).

I actually got half way through updating the first post, then chose to abandon it because of the reported problems. The dev has not personally tested it on HTC devices, and other users said it still wasn't working on their HD's and Omnia's. This only pertains to the flute, as the other parts are working fine.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon, I'll keep you guys informed.

Edit: maybe I should post it? so you guys can help find the bugs and report to the developer.
I don't know, I'm torn. I just don't like posting things that I know are admittedly bugged.

If you would like to try this new version, you can follow the links to the xda thread that I posted in the op.

go ahead and update first post. I'm curious to see if it's working on a touch pro, but i'm at work and can't test a flute app in front of everyone lol

Re: [3/31/09] Omniano- The Band Edition v1.1.2 (w/ piano, drums, and now flute)

Thanks for the heads up, GoodGets. I'll check Shoen's website and grab a copy to try out. I've been following this and enjoying it since the first version.

***

Later:
Nope, no flute with wind yet. The new photo on the website tells me I am blowing at the right place though. LOL
I'm sure he will get it workig soon!!!

Ok I added it. I think I made enough disclaimers. It also has a weird install, which I detailed in the op. No new cab, just replacing the exe file, so not hard.

You're welcome.
