Omnia Opera build 15746 (the fastest opera up-to-date)

thanks to xtep over at xda dev for the latest Omnia Opera build 15746. there are other higher version of opera from htc, but i've found the omnia builds are always much faster than the htc versions of opera.

here the vga versions that i've put together (installed into internal device):

vga version (cache directory set to internal storage): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X4ERZ025

march 10th update: fixed zoom in full mode
march 6th update: set network buffer to 6mb. for those who already downloaded and installed the cab, i recommend you set your network buffer to 6mb. this will improve page render performance a lot. to do this, type "opera:config" into your browser address bar, select performance and change network buffer to 6mb. i have already updated the cab.

for other installation options and qvga version go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475986

What's the difference between the regular and diamond version?

Re: Omnia Opera build 15746

The diamond version is set to store the cache on "Internal Storage"

The regular version looks for the "Storage Card"

I figured there was more to it than that since it's easy enough to change the cache location.

Depends on their release branching system.

What has changed in the last 200+ builds in the last few weeks? Got a link to the post that shows the change log?

I'm seeing the same issue. Oddly enough, this version of Opera definitely scrolls more smoothly after pages have been loaded. A major minus of being the Omnia version, however, is the inability to zoom in and out using the touch wheel. Opera has display issues with certain pages like Outlook Web Access, where you often need to zoom in and out to try and reset the page view (it chops off random parts of the page, regardless of zoom level. A series of rotating the device and zooming in and out usually fixes it...)

I think I'll probably revert. Thanks for the post though!!

other than the build number, there are very little information about the changes between builds. most of these builds arent release by opera software or by the respective oem. these builds are simply ripped out from certain rom by invidividuals on this forum or on xda-dev. and other forums, in this case, this opera build came from the samsung omnia rom, and packaged as cab so it can be installed into other devices. i believe your 15613 build come from certain htc rom. in my opinion, all of the opera that came from the samsung omnia rom are a bit faster than opera that come from htc roms.

Regarding the network buffer...I used the update cab from xda since I need the qvga version. All was fine until i changed the network buffer to 6000. Now pages display garbled text. Anyone else noticing this?

Also, can you post the qvga version modified with the network buffer tweak I may reinstall.

UPDATE: dropped it down to 4000 and working now. Will have to play around a little bit see the max I can go so i guess YMMV on this tweak

UPDATE 2: Well after sufring for a few minutes the garbled text returned. Going to continue to drop until i get it stable.

running really well on my ignito, the only issue i am having is the zoom sizes seem different to the older version i am using. i like the image to start with no zoom showing the full page. the settings are starting partially zoomed. can anyone advise the correct settings for me? (it worth mentioning that the pages are layed out slightly strangely, most sites are ok but XDA and ppcgeeks seem really 'crunched'

ps i agree the omnia builds are faster

many thanks in advance,

Chris

zoom in full mode is now fixed. default view mode is "mobile," to go into full mode, go to settings, display, and uncheck mobile view.

Everytime I open opera, the start page is blank, even when I have set my home page from settings section to be say yahoo or nytimes. Opera doesnot remember this and with every reload blank pahge opens up. Is this a bug or is there something I need to change. Thanks for the help.

Re: Omnia Opera build 15746 (the fastest opera up-to-date)

For Sprint HTC Touch Pros on Stock ROM (I just tweaked mine to hell rather than flash):

The default Opera Install directory is in Windows\Opera9, but this installs to Application Data\Opera 9

The Exe is still in the windows folder for whatever reason though, probably because it's an upgrade. Short story: go to opera:config and reroute your Opera directory back to Windows\Opera\. If you wanna only have one reliable fileset, then I'd recommend rerouting all the other values there as well I guess, and it'd then be safe to get rid of those in Application Data.

edit: Damn, lost my capacitive scroll wheel with this update. Is there any way to bring this functionality back? I prefered the wheel to the screen slider.edit2: crap, having the opera:blank homepage issue as well.

Edit 3: Okay, I reverted to an older build of Opera. Apparently this new one has a few issues to be worked on with regards to application location and all before it's okay. Older Opera build had none of these issues with loading the home page. However, even 15613 didn't have flash support at all. The Touch Wheel is apparently a hard-coded Opera feature only present in some builds, as it is functional in most Opera builds for HTC phones, just not in builds like this taken from others.

So I guess I'll trade wheel for flash in this case. Otherwise the Omina build is a bit quicker to render and fill in the checkerboard when scrolling, and the sizebar zoom feature works okay for what it's worth. It cannot zoom in on some pages that are already formatted to fit though, like google mobile's main page. The HTC Wheel versions let you zoom in to insane size to get at those things. I suppose I might have to tweak around.

Is there any way to increase the maximum zoom the sidebar is capable of?

Any way to get rid of the bar in the upper left side when finger scrolling?
