Hulu for PPC?

hey.
im just wondering if anyone's tried using Hulu on their PPC?
right now, my phone is taking forever to load the website.

works ok, wouldn't use it a ton. Drops frames and sometimes the sound doesn't match up to the video, but if you're stuck somewhere and don't have anything to do, its a lifesaver.

Able to see it via Skyfire only for now.

Re: Hulu for PPC?

You need to download Skyfire web browser. Here's the link.

http://www.skyfire.com/product

It's a web browser for video sites so they think you're on a regular pc instead of a ppc. Works great.

Hope this helps

Until the content providers come and tell hulu to block their content to the mobile player, just like they did to Boxee.

Eventually the content providers will yield when they finally realize that standalone player and a webbased player are the same thing... they both show the commercials.

Re: Hulu for PPC?

it's not the content providers who will be making the most noise - it's the cable companies.

2nd the notion of a hulu player

Also notion for the Hulu player

if any dev with some free time wants to make a nice amount of donations, I think a Hulu player would bring that in.

even if it was ****; i think it would be big

Re: Hulu for PPC?

I wouldn't think it would be too different then the YouTube stand-alone player. Hulu, Google Video, and Youtube all use *.flv videos to stream the content. It seems like it would be a simple matter of changing the address to search. (Yes, I am aware that Google Video gives the option to download an *.mp4 file, which is just a renamed *.avi file since it has no DRM integrated). Heck, I see no concevable reason why there isn't a ""Streaming Web Video Player" with integrated search for Google Video, Youtube, Youku, and Hulu. (All sites use *.flv for streaming).

if someone is willing 2 help the developer of w.d.v., he is willing 2 include hulu in that software. he cannot access hulu outside the usa.

As long as the standalone hulu player doesn't skip commercials, hopefully hulu will stay off the developers backs.

dont be so sure of yourself. Hulu doesnt allow 3rd party software to access hulu (over issues of copyright, outside US access, and other things) and a player would do such a thing. this will probably sit in the bin. sorry

Re: Hulu for PPC?

Don't the youtube player apps use the .3gp streams? Hulu doesn't have a mobile version for their website, and as such a mobile app could only access flash video. This is the biggest reason IMO that there is no hulu app for ANY of the mobile platforms. That and Hulu doesn't like direct 3rd party feeds.
Boxee used to connect directly to Hulu via AppleTV, but Hulu asked them to stop. However, I am pretty sure there was a workaround. Not sure (I don't have an AppleTV/Boxee)
I hope I'm wrong, but until flash 10 appears on mobile devices OR Hulu embraces a mobile friendly format I doubt we'll see a good Hulu app.

Re: Hulu for PPC?

Not to be a neysayer without offering to help, but as someone mentioned earlier, with the Boxee cutoff (which was at the behest of the networks, Hulu prez had a really great "I gotta do what my bosses tell me" press release) the flv links that hulu uses are now encoded, so it would require full webbrowser integration to get them out of the hulu webpage. I think Sjyfire (if your carrier doesn't block UDP ports, f$^%in Metro!!!) or a pacience till Opera 9.7 and Flash 10 hits mobile.

until hulu secures mobile broadcast rights from the major networks, this ain't gonna happen.
you can try graboid, not free but cheap, download the shows, convert them to fit your phone.

There is a nice little HULU player here: http://www.hulu.com/widget/player/videos.
That link will let you access the Hulu player widget. Go to the link with Skyfire.(pic attatched) But I still get the out of country message, stupid skyfire servers! How about going to the link with opera 10 w flash??

Yup, but only a few select shows were even supported anyway.

Lame. I've heard iDevices are getting a dedicated Hulu app. *sigh*
Not being the popular platform anymore is really starting to take a toll on our experience.

Because Hulu isn't just streaming flash like youtube. They have ways of keeping it locked down to what they want. This is why you can't watch Hulu on anything but a PC. Doesn't work on the "all powerful" PS3 either.
