Great find, thanks for posting. Question though, i read over on the other forum that sprite backup wont work with compressed exe's. If somebody tries this (backing up with sprite after doing this) can you please post results? Im going to try it myself so ill post results if no one else will.

Yeah, no crap. I remember using this on my 6700 as well. It worked well.

It does work for MSVC, but you're right, you can only compress the EXE as compressing the DLL's causes problems (at least it did on the 6700).

my question is this, do you only need to do this once per exe? or does the compress/decompress need to be repeated again later? like if i flash a new rom can i just copy over the 'altered' exe's i've already done? does it work like that?

Yes, just once and keep the compressed/altered exe's for the next time you flash. I wouldn't bother keeping stuff like google maps that gets updated constantly.
