installing internal vs storage

I was wondering if it is okay to install all those apps that customize the interface to the storage card. Since the files are constantly being read. I know certain apps would require or recommend installed to the phone. But is it okay to install everything (unless specified) on the storage.

For me everything unless required goes on the storage card. I have never had any problems. There are certain programs or games that might not be required on the device that installs there anyway. I just copy them over to the storage and relink the shortcuts.

I always install on the device, that way I can pull or replace the storage card without ever having any issues. I have tons of space on my device anyways.

When I had my Mogul I would install most programs to the card unless they were absolutely crucial. But since my Touch Pro has twice the ROM I've been installing everything to internal memory so far.

The reason why I ask is because I have a ton of ringtones & alert tones that has to be on internal. Just trying to future proof a little. My 30sec .wave ringtones get up as big as 4-6MB each. I dont really know how to optimize the audio files to be smaller.

Or is there a registry tweak to re-route the "my ringtones" folder to the storage card? That would even be better.

You can put ringtones in the root of your card and they'll still be visible. I have all mine there.

I always read that if the app has anything to do with the today screen, put in internal memory. most everything else can go to the card. Workin out well for me so far.

I install everything to internal. And I still have a ton of space.

How many ringers and notification sounds does one truly need?
