I agree. The loss of contacts/direct is a deal breaker. The opening icons were nice but I didn't notice any performance benefits.
Does anyone know if there is a newer Sprint Nav cab than the one at Post #4 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...Navigation+Cab
The date on that one is June 2008???

<edit> Forget that one. Found a newer and fatter one at Juggalo's thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49341 Post #3 if anyone else wants to switch back. This one plays really well and I think the maps are a little more legible and readable than the TeleNav update. Also, there are MANY more bells, whistles, features, etc. Points to Sprint for not holding it against you if you switch back, forth, and sideways here. One time log-in page handled everything.

Does anyone know if the lag issue is better with this version?

Man, I installed the Telenav from: http://ota.telenav.com/ota/tn/choice/htc_htc.html and its extremely accurate...to the tee, however I can't lookup my contacts address like I can with the stock Sprint Telenav. That sucks..I wish i could have both worlds.

K..plz pardon my stupid question here pls.

I have unlimited Data plan on my HTC touch. My questions are:

1) Is sprint navigation a paid service over and above the data plan?
2) If I follow every instruction posted in this thread..and use sprint nav...would I incur extra charge?

Thanks in advance.
:)

I second that. I know someone who has installed Sprint navi and had it running on their touch pro for months no without incurring fees related to it. Luck? They have unlimited data like a number of us here. If you are on a plan that has unlimited data usage can you simply install this cab and not worry about being hit with a fat bill at the end of your cycle? Is this feature included for the many individuals with unlimited data on their plan, sero or other? Thanks

I've been on unlimited data since October 2008 and have no increased fees using Sprint Nav/TeleNav. I also use about 2 gigs a month in data and haven't had my hand slapped yet!!

Also I reflashed a ROM the other day and just got to reinstalling Telenav and was locked out of my account. A quick call to them and they "re-bridged" my account to Sprint and all works well again. I really like the Telenav version much better. Especially because living in Houston I'll take alternate routes and Sprint Nav will sometimes gripe and exit out of a nav session. I've had no problems with this using Telenav.
