how can i disable all internet/data on phone? [Sprint]

hey all, i have a HTC Touch Pro through Sprint, wanted windows based phone for proggies for hospital use, but don't need/want internet data plan and didn't sign up for data plan when i got phone but now they're charging for individual kilobytes used & running up bill when i havent been online at all.

From under the settings tab, and then under communications i turned wi-fi and dta connection off... however still seem to be getting online somehow... is there some way to turn it off completely going through windows or some other way?

i know there is one program that autoupdates randomly (epocrates) for some reason too... cant figure out how to turn that off (& it's one program i need on phone or id uninstall it)

thanks for any help!

Here's an app called NoData that blocks all cellular connections

i used to do this by accidently going into the weather tab and this caused the data connection to turn on so i just removed that tab as well as the internet tab

If you can email it to your phone, the zip file can be opened and the .cab file will install the program to the phone

The 100% surefire way is to have sprint DISABLE all data access for your line. You can do it thru ecare, chat, or *2.

It's undoable if you decide to add data later. Just tell them you want all vision data access disabled on that line.

I did this for my kid's line until she was old enough for unlimited data.

You could ask if they can add the vision access pack for $5 first. If they say no, then ask for it to be disabled. Vision access pack is unlimited data as well (but not Picture mail, oddly that now costs an extra $5/mo)

Are you going based off of the new data plans? I don't think they're using 'PowerVision' plans anymore.

Powervision was the older slower network...

EVDO is more expensive... :)

I was having the exact same issue. I would have the phone on my desk with no apps running and I would notice that the data was up and running. The "Nodata" app has been working for me so far. Thanks for posting it!

I was having the same issues the only way that I have found to guarantee the data connection is disabled is to go into the EPST settings and change the M.IP settings.

(FYI, my provider is Bell Mobility but this should work for all providers)

First you need your MSL code, it is different for each phone. I found the easiest way to get it was to call my provider and ask, they gave it to me no questions asked.

With MSL in hand dial ##778# and the phone will enter the EPST settings. Select Edit and enter the MSL code. (Be very careful what you edit as you can render you phone useless, I also suggest recording what settings were before changing them)

In the bottom left corner of the screen select view info. Then go to M.IP settings. Change the Active User Profile Index to 0.

Next hit view info again and go to M.IP Default Profile. Change the first part of the NAI entry (before the @) to 1 (Again I suggest recording what this entry was).

Next hit view info, and go to M.IP Customer Profile 1. As before change the first part of the NAI entry to 1.

Repeat the last step for the rest of the M.IP Customer Profile's. Don't worry if some don't have an NAI entry just change the ones that do.

Once complete, hit ok in the top right hand corner and the phone will ask you to confirm changes and reset. Once the phone has reset it should not be able to dial the data connection.

It does not matter what you call it, just tell them to block all DATA on your line.

There will be no casual data billed because your phone will fail to connect when it tries to dial #777
