texting & 160 word limit (verizon)

I gave my son one of my old Titan's & he is running into problems with texts over 160 characters with his girlfriend (they both have unlimited txt on vz). His old phone was an EnV & that didn't limit texts at all.

It was my understanding that longer texts will be split & sent as multiple parts. His texts are being cut off, but he never receives the 2nd part. What is the solution to this??

yes the longer texts will be split into two texts and so on. I thought there might be a registry but not. there is no way around it

John, I have spent hours researching this same problem. PPC to PPC will be split into 2 messages. NONPPC to NONPPC will be split into 2 messages. But when it comes to NONPPC to PPC is where we run into the problem. I talked to a few Service Techs and they said its a known problem with the network. So its nothing that we can do to the phone itself to make it work. Hope that answers your question and if you find anything else out about this let me know. I really want a solution to this problem.

My Son has my old xv6800 & his GF has an eNv. When they both had an Env they could send any text they wanted. Now, he never gets the 2nd half of a long message she sends him.

Are you telling me there is NO WAY to fix this problem other than send shorter messages??

This must be phone or network specific because I've never run into this problem on Sprint. My girlfriend has had the Samsung M610 and now has the instinct and we never had that problem (I was using the 6700 then a a Centro, then my 800w).

Yeah John there is no way to fix it. A lot of people have been trying with no luck. Check these two threads out

So basically, the only solution is to get her a different phone.

I sent my Son a real long sms today from my vz activated Sprint TouchPro & he received it as three seperate messages. If she had sent him the exact same message from the ENv he would have only received the first part.

Yup thats the only solution I have found bro. Wish I could give you a better answer though. It pisses me off too that I cant get more than 160 from NONPPC users.

Just so I'm clear on this: I have a spare xv6800 that I'm not using.

If I gave that phone to his GF (so they are both using an xv6800), would that solve the problem??

From what I have seen, the Verizon xv6800 has that texting limit in place, but the Sprint version does not. I know fore I used my Mogul to text a 1,900 character epic text once.. lol
