when i try to play an artist it tells me i "need to be subscribed in order to use the Radio API." do i have to pay to use this on my phone? on my computer i can listen to the radio on the site for free. i'm confused

I get the same issue. I can listen fine on last.fm's page or on XBox Live. Time to e-mail the developer.

I've emailed him to no avail. Maybe you'll have better luck!

And to the above poster...no you don't need to subscribe. Like I said, it works fine on Symbian phones for free. The developer just needs to fix it.
