Official Microsoft Netflix Queue Manager

1 Attachment(s)
This just popped up on engadgetmobile today...looks like it will be coming out at the end of the month. It seems to be able to control your DVD and Instant Queue's. I believe there is some software out there that does this already, but this is officially from Microsoft if anybody cares lol

It's called Pyxis but it's clunky as hell.

I didn't think it controlled your dvd que. I thought it was just the instant que and only on your xbox 360.

It does your dvds as well as instant que. I use it quite a bit, and think it works just fine.

Re: Official Microsoft Netflix Queue Manager coming soon!

Now if they would only support streaming to Linux boxes. I run Ubuntu 8.10, (I can boot into Vista, but I've vowed not to use MS Windows for as long as humanly possible) The last time I booted into MS Windows was 17 November 2008, and the only capability I don't have (besides using my phone as a modem), is NetFlix streaming. I'll try Win7, but if that doesn't convert me back, I'll kiss MS Windows goodbye in favor of Linux.

Looking forward to the Official Netflix mobile later this month when its released, in the meantime, you can update your XBox360 Netflix queue through stock Opera Mobile on the Touch Pro (instantly)

Re: Official Microsoft Netflix Queue Manager

I'm really liking this. The only problem I have with it is that you can't tell it to move a dvd to a certain position. You can only tell it to move it up or down one spot at a time or to the top or bottom of the list. But mostly, I just use to add movies to my que when I'm away from my pc, then sort them later.

I always just use Vista Media Center and the MyNetflix plugin. Lets me browse, edit queue, and watch fullscreen streaming on my TV. Control with remote control is a nice touch. It's like having all kinds of on demand without having to pay Comcrap for digital cable.

Is there a new update to this? I haven't been able to get this to work in a few weeks.

Works perfectly on my stock TP.
I can live with the Move Up/Move down limitation. The search and show-descriptions function is wonderful. Really nice find!

Since Netflix JUST came out with this, look for a competing app from Blockbuster in about two years.

having a Netflix subscription in itself is really awesome, but having this NetFlix MM on your WinMobile is a beatiful thing.

Graphic UI excels in its simplicity and warm toned colors, Flick scrolling is to be envied on this application, so much so that after closing the app and browsing the TouchFlo Program Menu seemed lacking some kinetic movement.

Desrciptions and high quality movie previews for every thing in their entire collection.

instant gratification - sittin on your couch, adding a movie on WM, instantly pops up on the 61" HD screen

Microsoft’s Netflix app created by Spb Software

Not sure how many of you have seen this but I thought it was a little interesting.

Quote:

It should come as no surprise really, but it turns our Microsoft has hired Spb Software to create their ground-breaking Netflix queue management application. The Mobile Manager for Netflix is an on-device application that seamlessly interfaces with the Netflix web service, allows searching the entire Netflix library, viewing the movie details, managing the DVD queue, and adding movies to Instant Queue directly from Windows phones and play trailers of movies, directly on the handset screen...

One thing to add to the wish list for version 2.0. The ability to rate movies and to see suggestions based on your ratings on the Netflixs server. I'm surprised it was left out of the initial release.

Re: Official Microsoft Netflix Queue Manager

I would have liked a way to see a list of movies, such as new releases, etc instead of just a search feature. sure if i know a name of a movie i can edit my queue, but if i have no idea of what jst came out what's the point. Now i have to go to the real site and look for new movies.

Yes this started happening to me today. I uninstalled/reinstalled, tried both the storage card and the phone memory, no luck.

Re: Official Microsoft Netflix Queue Manager

i've been using the netflix manager app a lot recently. it works great for searching and adding standard dvds.

i'm going to get a bluray player soon, so i'll be renting bluray movies. i haven't seen any options for bluray dvds on this netflix app. maybe i need to add the bluray access to actually add bluray movies instead of standard using this app? i can't test becuase it costs a few bucks to rent bluray with netflix.

can anyone confirm whether this app works with adding bluray movies? if so, how does it work?

Re: Official Microsoft Netflix Queue Manager

I also don't have a Bluray player, but when I had HD DVD if you enabled it on your account then whatever movie you put in your queue would automatically default to HD DVD also the movie wasn't available in that format. I'm pretty sure that's how Bluray worked as well.

thanks. i'm aware of the auto convert feature. i'm not sure if you're talking about adding movies through the website or using this netflix manager... since hddvd died a while ago. if your experience was with this queue manager, then it most likely works the same with bluray. If you're just talking about regular website usage, then i'm still searching for an answer i guess. Please let me know which you mean. thanks.

Re: Official Microsoft Netflix Queue Manager

Has anyone had issues with the app lately? After installing from marketplace, launch netflix, I get the login screen but there are no fields for UN and PW, it's just a blank white page. I've tried uninstalling and reinstall a couple times but still doesn't work.

I just flashed to NRGZ 6.5.5, maybe this has something to do with it? I had it working fine on Mighty Rom 6.5.

Any ideas? Thanks

I installed it a few days ago and haven't had any problems. I'm not running NRGZ ROM though. Try posting in the ROM thread and see if anyone else has an issue.
