Linux OS for PPC?

I have been searching to see if there is a version of Linux that has been ported to PPC and can actually run linux programs like Firefox and VLC.

Is this possible? I mean, you can run linux on an old cheap computer with about the same or less CPU than a xv6800.

Thanks for the quick reply. It seems like a programmer would've figured this out by now. Wouldn't that be sweet to load it up and run a mini Linux PC in your palm?

Android OS will likely be able to do this sooner or later on the models of PPCs it runs on...
