You are entering a world of pain. This will end up being blocked again, because it's pretty damned obvious that Arcsoft doesn't want their product being used on Sprint phones. Have we already forgotten the last fiasco with this? Sprint blocked Arcsoft because Arcsoft threatened to sue Sprint. This is effectively warez. Just use the built in client or pay a little cash and get the full version of sMMS.

To elaborate on the "warez" comment. Verizon and Alltel pay licensing to Arcsoft to use their client. Sprint does not. Just because it comes on the phone doesn't make it free.

Yeah. Back when the Arcsoft application worked on Sprint the first time, then it became blocked, most of the ppc community went insane blaming Sprint, saying they didn't want us sending picturemail and threatening to file a class action suit and all this nonsense, when it was Arcsoft who demanded it be blocked.

Basically they were suing because the program isn't a free program, the carriers pay for it per device, but it was being used on countless Sprint phones and Arcsoft wasn't being paid for it.

That's like Paramount suing Sony because people are watching illegal DVDs on their Sony TV sets....

Hah,

Matt!

I did some searching and did not find anything on any lawsuit or threats of a lawsuit.... you sure it wasn't just speculation, or Sprint trying to prevent a lawsuit?

i followed the whole thing closely when it went down and sprint never came out and said arcsoft threatened to sue, but implied heavily that mms was blocked because of the warez of the arcsoft mms program. reading over the info at the time i got the impression that arcsoft had sent a letter to sprint threatening legal action and sprint complied. of course sprint handled the whole thing horribly PR wise and came out of it as the bad guy in meny peoples eyes.

I guess there was never a suit dropped, but yeah, legal action was threatened.
