Free GPS Service

1 Attachment(s)
AmAze is a first of its kind free navigation and local search service. It is free to download and use and it contains wide coverage of maps including aerial photo in Europe, North America, Australia and parts of Asia and Africa.

I do not take credit for the creation of this gps application.

Features:
*Free Navigation
*View Detailed Maps
*Rotatable Map during Navigation
*Satellite Images
*Hybrid Maps
*Worldwide Weather
*Keyword Search
*Local Search Directories
*Vocal Guidance
*Regional Settings
*Textual and Visual Routing Instructions
*Save and Manage Favorite Destinations
*Route Simulation Mode

I use aMaze in my Titan's, but I don't believe it works with VGA resolution for my current TouchPro. The 3D maps in it suck but the 2D maps are really nice.

The 3D maps are a bit slow to load and aren't all that clear, but that doesn't really impair your ability to use it effectively

I use to use it before TT7, it does work on the Diamond. Its good enough to get the job done

Yep, it's a great emergency back-up when I don't have my actual GPS unit. The main disadvantage to Amaze compared to a GPS unit is that it does not pre-load the maps. They are downloaded by the data connection as needed. This makes sense because the maps would take up a huge chunk of memory. However, Amaze recently took me on a backwoods route that caused me to lose my data connection, and at that point, I had no idea where I was.

Also, the maps cannot show correctly in landscape mode. The car I was driving really only had a place to put the phone on its side and I was trying to keep it plugged in. But the voice and the little symbol about where to turn or merge next was helpful. So, it was better than nothing - well, until I lost the data connection, then it was nothing. :-)

Same, its not as good as the sprint gps, but it gets the job done, and as a bonus you don't have to pay $9.99 per month

There are several threads about Amaze already, including this one which is for VGA.
