cab files from exe files?

Some software does not come in cab format, only exe for installing from PC. I like to keep all my software on my SD card for installing if for some reason I have to hard reset away from home. Is there a way to convert an exe file to a cab file? Or something like that?

Many exe installers work through Activesync, if you look in the Activesync folder there are often cab's there.

I don't think their are any programs like that. You may just want look into Sprite Backup or simular program for those type of situations.

Very easy:

1) Run the exe to install through activesync
2) When WM5 on your device asks you where you want to install do NOT select anything
3) Instead, leaving the "install" running, go to your preferred file explorer
4) Navigate to "\Windows\AppMgr\Install" -- Your cab is stored there temporarily during installation
5) Copy the cab file to your preferred storage area
6) Close the file explorer and cancel the installation (unless you actually need to install it, or want to re-install it)

Hope that helps...

Great tip. I usually use winrar to try and extract the EXE or just navigate to the AS folder to copy and paste the cab.
