Location Caller ID
I am trying to find a program that will enable the caller ID of unknown callers to tell me at least where they are from. This is a basic function on the unsmart (dumb just isn't PC) phones, so one would think that a phone with some intelligence could do this no problem. Has anyone seen anything like this?
*Disclaimer* I did a search for this and came up with just one thread for the Titan, and the program seemed not to work for Windows Mobile 6 or better. I know there is a program called WhoozCalling (or something like that) but it also doesn't work with Windows Mobile 6. |
Re: Location Caller ID
Damn, I must have had some retarded phones! None of the phones I every owned did that.

Re: Location Caller ID
That would be an interesting feature... I guess you could write down the area code and Google it afterwards..

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, or if they get this app to work. Would be sweet to have. |
Re: Location Caller ID
Yes, you are correct.. The Sprint network can not enable both a data session and a talk session at the same time...

Re: Location Caller ID
On my Sprint Touch Pro the city or at least state of caller comes up on both incoming and, after number has been dialed, outgoing as well...

Re: Location Caller ID
Someone could modify the program to include the list of area codes and the corresponding cities so it wouldn't have to use the network connection to look them up.
|
Re: Location Caller ID
If I call Pizza Hut, it just tells me what city it is located in.. Unless I have it pre-programmed, of course.. I think it had to do with the network because if lets say you call *2 from a Sprint phone, it says what it is but if I call a random business, only the location is displayed

Re: Location Caller ID
I think the Alltel Diamond has the list built in as i had my wife play with it a bit and it knew every area code i tried that i could remember. If any one with an Alltel Diamond can dump it you will have the program and the associated files. I don't dare touch the wifes. LOL\

KIDDING..:drunken: But if there is someone with an Alltel Diamond, that would be cool.. Us CDMA people are getting the shaft.. Maybe someone can dump everything from http://www.wherecall.com/AreaCode-Exchange/916.htm and we could carry it around on our SD cards.. LOL That would be a *****...](*,) |

Re: Location Caller ID
FYI - I just added a program and .cab file to this thread:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=50897 It is a modified version of Sveinung Bakken's CallerUtility (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424923) that does an area code lookup in our registry (instead of going out to the web to get address info). Hope it helps someone.. if not, it was still fun to try my hand at WM6 dev work... ;) |
