Video Converter for VGA

Anyone know what the best video converter for VGA resolutions is? I've tried Spb DVD and it plays smooth on the PC, but my phone can't play it smoothly.
THANKS

That's probably good for smaller vids, but I think we're looking to convert full movies.. wouldn't mediaconverter.org take too long? I've used sites like that in the past to convert 10 minute videos and sometimes they give me an error after converting for a very long time.
BTW, i use http://media-convert.com when converting smaller files

Try this, it does wonders:

Use preset values or change the resolution to whatever you see fit. Change the bitrates and it allso has 2 pass encoding and various file formats available.

And...freeware :)

Btw, I wouldn't recomment spb dvd, it encodes into .wmv and those tend to be choppy videos and have heavy loads on the cpu during playback. With this program the formats are better, you can have your movie playing seamlessly and still "tab out" to do something else without creating a lot of lag.

I uploaded a 20 minute .flv movie to it and it converted it to .wmv and changed the resolution to fit my Mogul and it worked just fine without any issues..

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

@Highlife: If I want to get the smoothest playback, what format should I use?

A good starting balance is to...

1. Encode into .avi or .mp4
2. Set video bitrate at a minimum somewhere around 270 kbps
3. Set Audio to atleast 32 Khz/80 kbps

You get a good quality with good playback performance. A typical 90minute movie around those settings will come out to be about 212MB.

No matter what I do, the program either

1. Makes a vid that won't play on my PPC [not in WMP or PocketPlayer]
2. Starts conversion and completes within 1 second
