Dashwire? Who uses it?

I was just wondering who all uses it.
Please post what device you used it on and if you've ever had any problems with it. Also, include your overall experience with it.

As you've seen with the Apple MobileMe and Nokia OVI initiatives, the
connected services space is on fire, creating exciting opportunities and
demand for a free, cross-platform solution like Dashwire.

As you know, Dashwire helps users take the contacts, text messages, calls,
photos, videos, and settings from their phones to the web, where they can
backup their stuff, search & interact with their information, and share
their experiences with friends and social sites. Dashwire keeps the phone
and the web constantly connected, so that the stuff done on one
automatically shows up on the other in just a few seconds.

Up to this point, we've primarily focused on helping users effortlessly
bring their mobile phone and content it captures up to the web. Starting
next week, a major focus for us going forward will also be enabling users to
bring the content they care about from the web instantly down to their
phones, and allowing them to interact with it in a fast, new user interface.

I use it as a secondary backup for my contacts...and also for text messaging. When I'm at work, it's much quicker for me to have dashwire open in the background and type up a text, compared to the laggy windows mobile...going thru the menus to send a simple text.

Agree w/ AcezHigh...It's an excellent add on to whatever primary backup app you use for your device, in my case SPB Backup

Re: Dashwire? Who uses it?

I have made it my primary backup of contacts, sms, and pics. I don't use it in autosync mode, but it comes in handy when I leave home with the wrong phone.

so it works as advertised?
how badly does it affect battery life?

I've had no problems with it's performance. Your battery will suffer if you leave DW set on autosync. I manually sync mine.

Ditto on the manual sync. Good program.

double ditto on the manual sync. Its been a little while since i used it, so i may be out of date here, but I had problems syncing. It just seemed to take FOREVER for me, but i did have almose 1000 pics on my storage card. I may just have to see what version i have and what version they're up to and give it another shot. It is a great program though, and I love the idea.

the program is sick. I use it as my primary backup for contacts and such. Although, i have it setup to sync automatically, my phone lasts me all day so It doesnt seem to effect my battery life. ohh and im using the Touch Pro.

What a find! I tried it out a few hours ago, and it's great! It's like a ppc version of Carbonite backup!

I use it maybe once a week and it helps me keep up to date. When I switched over to my TP before I left the Sprint Store my new phone was completly in the same state as my mogul was including text messages and all. The Sprint salesperson face was priceless as he saw my new phone totally backed up. Great App

Re: Dashwire? Who uses it?

Fantastic app!!! I use it for testing at work, and showing off pictures (100% easier than showing them on the device itself). I have found leaving it on auto update will drain the battery of my 700wx pretty fast, so I leave it on manual unless I am texting a lot at work. I find the contact update to be very useful if you need to access the information for purposesother than calling them on the device itself (filling out forms, mail, calling from work....).

At this point, there are two things that would put this app into my 'must have' and 'use EVERY day' category:

- better battery usage....as I mentioned, I can run through a battery pretty fast. If I am going to work, and KNOW I am not doing anything after, I can leave it on auto and lose about 5% per hour just sitting idle. Better batter usage would have me keep this on auto 24/7 as opposed to updating occasionally and using it on auto for high text days at work.

- They have more work to do on the contact sync. I use S2U2 with full-screen caller ID, and for the contact pics, you need to assign using S2V or the images get re-scaled resulting in fuzzy contact images. Whenever DashWire syncs contacts, all the images get reverted back to WM re-scaled and I need to use S2V to reassign them all AGAIN!!!

*Sorry....kinda got carried away there LOL!!!
