This might be a stupid question, but I've searched and haven't found much...

I'm trying to edit, rename and/or move some system files from the /windows directory such as gx.dll and libgles.dll from the /windows directory. I've tried using resco explorer by editing the file attribute's read-only attribute and also tried the same using Active Sync connection by setting the "Show Protected System Files" and "Show Hidden Files" and can't get it to budge.

Whats the standard operation procedure to edit system files in WM6.1?

And for the record, I'm a PPC semi-noob but in the full-size tech world I'm an IT admin and it's frustrating not to be able to do this. ](*,)

Are these files in ROM? :???:

I hope not, either way I'm reading about cooking custom ROMs, I really want to get into cooking up my own stuff but this is a whole new technical universe for me and I can't really play with my phone to much during the week and risk an unstable device during work hours.

I'm really just trying to fix a problem I'm noticing with video drivers on my diamond to get 3d games like THPS2, Pocket Quake and such to run without displaying nothing but a white screen. This is using Juicy's custom 2.5 ROM, stock Sprint ROM doesn't do this so I was wondering if grabbing the gx.dll and libgles.dll files from a stock Sprint installation, then flash into the Juicy 2.5 ROM and copy these files into the /windows folder would fix the problem.
