What's the best program to stream Shoutcast with?

I know Kinomaplay does a great job of streaming shoutcast and selecting channels to play, but the fact that it just takes over all media file associations is a deal breaker for me. Does anyone know how to keep Kinomaplay from taking over?

If not...what's the best program out there that makes it easy to pick from Shoutcast channels without having to go there website and downloading the playlist and then starting it from Window Media Player?

I have used GS Player in the past, simply because it manages to play music even with the screen turned off. That was also a nice thing about Kinomaplayer, you could just hit the power button to turn the screen off and the music just kept on playing.

Thanks!

You could use Resco Explorer to restore any and all file associations that Kinoma stole during install. It's the only app I've seen that will load all of shoutcast for you and that to me is worth the time I would spend re-associating files.

Hope that helps

Unfortunately you can't stop it from doing that, but you can use Resco Explorer to set the associations back again.

I only have the trial version of Resco Explorer. Is that thing time limit, or limited in function?

Any idea of the files will be re-associated to what they were when I uninstall Kinomaplay? Just in case the trial version of Rescoe can't undo the associations, or in the event that the undone associations go back to Kinomaplay should I uninstall the Rescoe Trial.

I believe the trial is time limited but I'm not 100% sure (I tried it for 10 minutes & then bought it along with Resco KB Pro)

I don't really know what happens if you uninstall Kinoma, I may try it just to see what happens as I can always hard reset & then restore an SPB BU file.......That POS is such an invasive program I would almost be afraid to uninstall it witout a working BU.......

I use GSPlayer for Shoutcast... I have a separate folder named RADIO PLS - and I save all my pls files in there, named for each station I listen to on a regular basis. Makes it a breeze to listen to streaming audio... open GSPLAYER, select OPEN FILE from the GSplayer menu, select the RADIO PLS folder, open the folder, tap on the station I want to hear.

Give it a try...

My my, we haven't mentioned PocketMusic Player?
Awesome player with several skins!
Plays every streaming format except flash in which you can use SkyFire.

Edit: This software is not free plus the GSplayer I just tried works great.

Isn't internet radio better than terrestrial and satellite radio! You can even listen to Howard Stern in the mornings by typing Howard101 in the search field on ShoutCast!

Question: On GSplayer with the 'Windows Media Audio (WMA) Plug-in' How do you enable it so that the default Windows Media Player on the device doesn't automatically start? I ask this because the WMP shows no artist information when streaming.

Try TCPMP it plays just about anything you throw at it. Go to shoutcast pick the station and viola.
