Flexmail 4 users: Any way to set up "Global" inbox?

I've been trying to switch over to FlexMail 4 but have a question. I have multiple email accounts and it's annoying to have to check each and every inbox.

One thing I like about Chatteremail in the Palm OS was it's ability to set up an inbox summary where all new messages from all accounts could be viewed on a single page.

You still had the ability to choose each separate account and it's folders but the summary was a great way to check for new emails all at once.

Is this possible in FlexMail 4? I know it has filters and I've tried to create a "Global inbox" but I can't seem to get it to work.

Any ideas? Is this possible?

Thanks!

Interesting. I suppose you could create a bunch of filters and copy all new messages to your global inbox. I use Flexmail but I've never tried that... now would I want to. :)

I think it would be much easier to subscribe to the mail service like Fastmail (which I use). It would be a piece of cake to set it up there.

That's what I was trying to do but where does the global inbox reside? How do you create one outside of your email accounts?

Now that I think about it, I don't think you actually can.. at least not with Flexmail.... unless you have an IMAP account and manage your Folders on the server. Check out www.gmail.com. It's free and does what you want.... actually that's one of the reasons I quit using it. I hated having all my email in one inbox. Or www.Fastmail.fm. It's cheap and much more customizable than gmail. Stay away from Runbox.com though. They've been having lots of trouble with their IMAP servers the last year.

I have Gmail on my home PC and I do have several other accounts set up to send/receive from the single Gmail account. When I get an email to account 2, I can reply from Gmail and it looks like it came from account 2. Flexmail doesn't have that option from what I could see, every reply would come from my Gmail email address instead of the actual account address.

Well, that was the beauty with the Palm OS email app Chatteremail. You still had all your emails going to their separate account inboxes. They just had an additional option that was called "summary" that let you view all the new emails on one screen. So much easier to check if you have 5 accounts set up as opposed to having to manipulate your way through 5 different account mailboxes. You didn't have to use that option though, and even if you did, you could still access all the different account inboxes.

I set up new accounts in Flexmail for every address I wanted to send From. Set them up as POP account and used Fastmail for incoming and the "from" accounts SMTP server for outgoing. And I did not include them in send/receive or include them in the display. That way when I replied to an email I had a choice of "from" accounts. Works good but is a PITA to setup.

Only Fastmail showed up in Flexmail with folders for each of my accounts. Sorting was done on the Fastmail IMAP server.

I gave up on Flexmail for the time being btw. It's a good app but managing complicated multiple email account setups just wasn't worth the trouble to me. I reply to most of my email at a desktop anyway. I'm trying to get used to the built-in messaging app now. It's got good IMAP support and shows my new messages count right on HTC home.

Same here, I've installed it and removed it at least 4 times the past few weeks. There just doesn't seem to be another decent email alternative.

From some of the reading I did before switching from Palm OS, I somehow was under the impression that there were thousands of mind blowing, must have, absolutely incredible apps that blow away the Palm OS.

Funny, I just don't see it. One problem I've noticed is that a lot of the apps aren't set up for the 800w's 320x320 screen. That's probably preventing me from trying some of them. Some I did try (before I knew about the incompatibility) and wondered why part of the screen was cut off with no scrollbar. #-o

The frustrating part is I've spent many hours trying different things and I basically still have the stock 800w set up. I have added Weather Panel and Resco File Explorer, a soft reset app (the most used!) and that's about it. Sadly, I'm losing interest because it seems like I'm not getting anywhere. :(

I'm looking forward to the new Palm OS release next year. Not sure if I'll keep using the 800w until then or go back to my Centro.

That 320x320 screen cuts down those thousands of mind blowing apps I'm sure. And I doubt WM will ever be as stable as Palm OS. I switched from the Palm a decade ago to get the Office products and all the apps. I guess I've gotten used to the daily soft-resets. It's an MS product after all.
