Re: Swype gesture keyboard

This swype thing is Revolutionary. I use it on my Touch Pro and it's faster than AI can type on the hardware keyboard. Also because of the size it's more finger friendly when you don't swipe. I say a MUST HAVE for the touch pro

Re: Swype gesture keyboard

funny thing is you can use this as a keyboard with regular taps and it works pretty good as well. still trying to pick up the swipe myself but found myself liking the keyboard with regular taps.. lol.

Which cab file did you use? I tried the one posted a page back and didn't seem to work.

Try using Advanced Config and under Input there should be an option for that. Or you should be able to search for the registry key that controls this.

Am I the only one who thinks this is awesome! Works great and I'm getting faster with this than I am with the physical KB on my TP2.

Great app and thanks for the find! Been waiting for this to be "released".

Anybody found an easy way to get contacts to add auto to an sms or e-mail like the regular kb....without having to try and swype the whole name?....

EDIT: The easiest way I found is punch in the first 2 letters and then hit backspace and it will show the contacts...there has to be a way to do it like the regular kb does auto...

The app is absulutly awesome right now I am trying to cook a rom with a basic keyboard because my rom had 3 keyboards on it right now lol.

This is 5/5 stars 10/10 people try it make sure you read the instructions for it. The tips in there like don't use spacebar and stuff is nice. T9 really annoys me and typing just normal is slow this is much better much easier.

I love when people who work for a company come on here and try to convince us why their product is better. Hmm... 3 posts, all about how great SlideIT is. No thanks... i'll stick with swype. Doesnt crash, runs perfect, FREE! I'm good and I recoomend, as a user, to stick with Swype!

I really like the KB....but I am not liking this contacts issue at all! May have to revert back...

well the last several roms I have used the keyboard does NOT pop up on contacts anyway. just a line down the side with letters of the alphabet. ( on my diamond) but I can see how that can be annoying I did see a feature in the swype you can add a file to your dictionary so if its a matter of the predictive text part of it not completing the name because its not in the dictionary. This should also solve in a limited way people's language issue at least temporarily until something comes out (for the word completion)

help
I ran the cab and I must have done something wrong because swype is not showing under programs and I cant find it. I can open a tutorial and when I close it the keyboard icon stays in the text area but if i dont open the tutorial the keyboard is the original that came with the phone.

i have a touch pro2

same position, except i dont even have access to the tutorial.

running stock sprint tp2

edit: tried installing to both memory card and device and both times i was unable to locate the program on my phone (although it's registered as installed because it's giving me an option to uninstall it). i used the wvga cab since that's the resolution on my phone. also did a soft reset, but no luck.

Are you guys opening the on screen keyboard then selecting the up arrow to show you your options of keyboards? Swype should be listed.

Isn't this warez? The xda thread got shut down due to legal complaints from the swype developers....

I'm pretty sure there isn't a free version.
The company that makes it only released it on a phone, and it was ripped from that phone's rom and cabbed up on xda. The developers messaged xda/thread poster to take down that thread or suffer legal action.

I could be wrong, but until I see a freeware site with this on it, it has been taken out of a rom and the company threatened legal action to xda, meaning that it's technically warez.
But I really don't care, just trying to watch out.

I can install it but cant find it or how to use it, what am i doing wrong

GirlGoneGeek 05-28-2010 05:50 PM

Re: Swype gesture keyboard

tlrosier you have to change the keyboard type you want to use. There are two ways to do this. I use a htc touch of course so it should be very similar but could be different depending on your ROM.

1. Start>Settings>Input and click the drop down box and select swype keyboard (assuming you have it installed completely)

2. When you are in a text click the keybaord at the bottom of the screen in the center, you will see an triangle appear beside it. Click that triangle and you will also see the list of your keyboards.

If you don't have these options you must not have it installed completely.
