Magic Button is a good free app. Small Menu and WisBar will also do this

Also search for SK Tools, the free up RAM utility gives you the option to close all programs running.

Having tried all of the above, Quick Menu really needs to be looked at. over-all it is far easier to use than tMan and the others mentioned.
