Flash 8 Player required

I'm getting kind of tired of this message and since I don't see anybody else complaining about it I figure there's a good chance I'm missing something.

I'd just like to watch and occasional video on npr.org or marketwatch.com but everytime I try to load them on my CDMA Vogue I get an error page that says I only have Flash Player 7 installed and I need Flash Player 8.

I've poked around for a solution and apparently there is no Flashplayer 8 for the ppc and 7 was released over two years ago. There is a 9 for the desktop, but nothing beyond 7 for the ppc.

Is this just the state of affairs?

Yes, this is just the (sad) state of affairs. As you are discovering, a large majority of flash content on websites now is coded for Flash 8 and 9. Which are not supported on WinMo at the present time, except in beta releases of software (e.g. Skyfire) which are written to include Flash Lite 3.

Unfortunately Adobe has decided to make Flash Lite 3 an OEM release only - end users will only able to get it from device, OS, and content partners of Adobe (I work for one such partner). All of us are way behind schedule, which is almost entirely Adobe's fault.

Thanks. I guess WM is still just not mainstream enough for the big players.
I did sign up for the Skyfire Beta 2 and watched a hilarious demo of Skyfire at DEMO 08. "That's not very compelling either Erik". LOL

sign up for skyfire again with the beta code of SMSTN (with caps) and you will recieve your sms download link instantly (you might need to sign up swice with the code if it doesn't work the first time). if that code doesn't work try the code "vbeat" (no caps).
