Smile SMS 1.68

Found this program seems alright so far.
It shows the smiley faces in the default txt messaging for Windows Mobile. Oh yea it also has threaded SMS feature.
I put it on my touch for the smiley faces, and I put it on my wife's Treo 700WX. On her phone when the threaded SMS is active, the message list is still shows the individual txt messages, but once you click on one, it puts all the ones for the contact as threaded.

Lots of info at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328363
Great little app, I'm running it. Still has a few minor bugs, but they are actively being worked on.

I was running it on 6.1 and a WM 5 device. But there is one issue with it, which is gonna keep me from using it until it's no longer an issue; you can't click URLs that are in txt messages. So until that gets fixed with a future update I will be waiting till then to use it.

I should point out I am trying this now and you can click on links... its when they are in the notification window they dont work. But when you click and view the msg it works just fine.

Also there is an option to use the old notification window thus the links work.

The good:
App works fine with 6.1 and maintains threaded messaging
Gives a new clean "iphone" messaging theme
adds animated similes
Only notices 1% loss in ram over a day of use.

The Bad:
The Text msg sound is nothing by default. You have to go into the settings and add a text msg sound.
Links down show in notification window by default
Now the "mark all as read" menu option doesn't work

oh yea had the original notification on, links no worky. Links no worky in the actual message either.
Only way the links worked for us was to disable the app, then it would be pointless to even have it.

still say go into the actual message( not the notification window ) and all is well and working. 2 more clicks man.. Your poor fingers will survive I promise!

If you deem this an issue you should post it on xda so the developer can handle it

It's not an issue of being lazy and just trying to use links in the notifications window, it's also in the actual message where they don't work for us.

Is the smiley box visible for anyone within threaded text? I can see the box if I do a brand new message but it's not visible when I have my threaded messages open.

i cant see smileys

Re: Smile SMS 1.68

why does smileys delete some of the older sms's that i have kept in a conversation in my inbox? i like the overall layout and design of the program but not the fact that it deletes older messages. also, the date and time stamp seems to have a flaw in it. the time and date on the original sms is correct, but when i install smileys, all messages appear to be sent on todays date.

i tried this app and i couldnt see the pictures that were sent to me I am using MightyRom the latest build of it. Im using arcsoft mms on sprint without picture mail ever installed. When i have this app on i cannot see the pics im sent and when i disable it then i could see my pictures. Plz help it would be a perfect app if it works with arcsoft mms and being threaded at the same time. thanks!

Re: Smile SMS 1.68

it kinda takes a while to load, and pic mails can't be viewed. it says "PictureMail" but is not clickable. i have arcsoft mms installed. also, when you view a message at first, and open the keyboard, the cursor isn't default in the box, so you have to click the text input box as well. its very annoying if you text a lot. the lack of mms support, and default keyboard cursor active in the input box are deal breakers for me. cool program though. oh yeah, and half of the menu options while in a message are grayed out, such as insert (pics/vids), message options, etc... makes it virtually useless for anything but replies back. i guess i can send smiley's lol.
