Touch 6.1 - Contact page missing ABCDEF index sidebar ?

I recently upgraded to the Touch 6.1 Sprint ROM. Whether or not its related... but I just noticed that the alphabetic sidebar index on the right, ABCDEF... that runs vertically down the right edge of the Contacts page is now missing.

How do I get that back ?

I had the same problem. WIth my phone it would come and go. I recently changed to ROM 3.03.651.4 and have not had an issue so far. But it could have been just a simple hard rest fix.

Mine does that to, it comes and goes. Usually I just "X" out of the contacts and it comes back.

Thanks for the response... Did you notice any behavior or action that often made it come back ?

Please report back if the .4 ROM seems to fix this... It might be a good enough reason to flash (again)... UGH...

Answering my own question a bit... it seems that the intent is for the ABCDEF index to be displayed if the option "Show alphabetic index" is NOT checked (because that turns on the top #ab def ghi index). When it is checked, the top index is displayed and there is a scroll bar on the right instead of the ABCDEF index.

However it doesn't always seem to work right... Nevertheless that *seems* to be the intention...

I'm pretty sure in the original 6.0 ROM, you could get both the top and the right alphabetic indicies at the same time (but I can't check this out anymore...)

It seems to be a bug that happens about 20% of the time for me. I simply close the contacts and re-open, which seems to work most of the time. I also am unable to open the HTC launcher right after a soft re-boot. I typically have to press the start button, before anything else on the screen will respond. Once I tap the start button, everything seems to work ok. By the way, I'm using the .2 leaked rom.

my undersatanding is that it only works when you open the "contacts" program from new. (soft button or from programs folder) If you are 'in' a pragram like sending SMS then it goes to the other format. (although I've been wrong a couple of time in my life)lol

All the little issues that this "official" leaked ROM has leads me to believe that this is not the ROM that Sprint will be releasing officially. If it is...then god help their tech support! There's just too many bugs in this one to be really official. That might also be the reason why Sprint still hasn't released it yet officially. Wouldn't surprise me if Sprint had leaked it so that people like us can beta test it for them....lol

do a search for a random access cab and download. You can find a couple versions here or on xda-developers.com
