Make Opera default for clicking from File Explorer?
I have been successful in getting Opera (9.5 1184) to be the default for most things, but the one thing I can't do is the one I want the most. I would like to be able to click on something in the Favorites folder and have it be opened up in Opera. Ultimate goal here is to use QuickMenu to access favorites directly from the start menu. By messing with reg edits, I have gotten it to where Opera will open but instead of inserting the url, it puts the local file info like this:
file:/windows/favorites/name%20of%20favorite.url Seems like it is a syntax problem, but I don't know enough about regedits. By the way, I am doing this because I can't install desktop Opera on my work computer, which is where I back up everything including favorites with Active Sync. Hopefully this will allow me to use my IE favorites with Opera without having to reimport them every time I change something. Any ideas? |
Re: Make Opera default for clicking from File Explorer?
I can't figure out a way to get .url files to work with Opera either but I have come up with a method that works for me. You can create a shortcut with the extension .lnk and inside that file put something like this:
48#"\Program Files\9.5 Beta\Opera9.exe" weather.com The 48# means 48 characters after the # - just change that number to however many characters you have there. Now you can open that shortcut and it will take you straight to that page. |
