Chronobis 0.6.0.1 Released

Chronobis 0.6.0.1 Released

Chronobis is a FREE Outlook Web Access (OWA) to Windows Mobile device synchronization program. It connects directly to OWA from your Windows Mobile device and does not require any special permissions or options to be enabled by your company's IT department. If you can access Outlook Web Access (OWA) from a public internet connection, you can sync Exchange calendar to your PocketPC (PPC) device using Chronobis. Chronobis also runs completely self-contained on your Windows Mobile device, no need to install software on your desktop, work computer, or use any "3rd party service". This is extremely helpful to those who can't use Active Sync to synchronize their calendar's because of lack of support from their IT departments.

This looks like a great program. I just worry about entering company login information into any program. Can you help ease my mind on security concerns?

Re: Chronobis 0.6.0.1 Released

Thanks,

I can only tell you what it does, you or anyone else is welcome to run a network monitoring program to monitor the TCP traffic that it produces in order to verify this. Ultimately it comes down to what you are comfortable with, this is free software.

* Your password is stored in an encrypted form in your registry.
* None of your personal information or settings are sent anywhere except for the site you are logging into.

The program does send the following information back to my site so I can tell how many people are using my software and what platforms I should prioritize any support for and also to notify you of any available software updates:

* A randomly generated GUID that represents your client
* An application name of the program you are running (Chronobis PPC, or Chronobis Smartphone)
* Version of the application above that you are running
* Version of the .Net CF Runtime that you are using
* Version of Windows Mobile that you are using

EDIT: BTW, ultimately I wrote (am writing) this software because I needed it and it did not already exist.

Hope this helps your concerns,

I wish someone would create an app that would let me get OWA for my email without having to go through the hassle of logging in through Opera Mobile and getting kicked out every 15 minutes to boot...
