i can't uninstall my antivirus ? .... help
 

i have a sprint htc touch and i decided to try out and buy f-secure mobile antivirus. its ok, but it sorta slows my pda down and i want to free up some memory. i tried to uninstall it in the phone and by my pc's active sync connection and it wont budge "says it cant uninstall". i searched f-secures website and it does not say how to uninstall it for my 4.0 version. can i get some advice here guys, i also tried to reinstall the program " because it will first remove the duplicate" and that wont work either.

also ive read online we really don't need antivirus software on our pocker pc's. is that true ? ive hearda few people say to just try out a lightweight program like spybot pocket pc edition ? can you recommend a light weight / free scanner only, no real time protection.

I'm assuming you tried to uninstall via Settings/System/Remove Programs? You might be able to also just navigate to the program through file explorer and remove it that way. Then run something like MemMaid or SKTools to clean up the registry.

thanks, yeah i tried with add/remove programs in the pda and via the pc, no go. so i need to manually delete the program files and registry keys ? is memmaid or sktools free ?

you can use memmaid, pocket mechanic, or sktools for a trial period for free.

And I'm sorry to say this, if none of those work you may just have to hard reset.

It'll suck because you'll have to reload all your programs, but it will guarantee that every last bit of that program gets wiped

i went with sktools lite and i deleted as much of the program files as i could. some said they were in use still. i soft reset and the antivirus doesnt start anymore. i just hard reset and ill see if its totally gone.


would you guys recommend spybot at all ?

I like Kaspersky Labs mobile - has an antitheft function as well as antivirus, with a month trial. Most ppc users don't go with an antivirus, but I figure it doesn't hurt anything.

did u happen to upgrade ur phone? i did and have a program ( different one ) to uninstall did not work same error as u. i hope its not the rom

well the antivirus folders cannot be deleted for some reason. the program icons are gone and it doesn't start anymore though. i even hard reset to see if it would help.

i also tried spybot and it doesn't work right and crashes on my pda. ](*,)

yeah i upgraded to sprint newest rom last night. but the antivirus was wiped out and i had to reinstall today. maybe it is the rom causing this problem ?
